After releasing the first and only new game on GOG.com, we're back into our standard, good, old games releases.

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/spellforce_2_shadow_wars]Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars is the sequel of the great game that blends the action and tactics of an RTS with an immersive role-playing experience. In the second part you have to once more fight the evil that threatens the fantasy world of Eo, choosing from 9 different classes within 3 factions. The game promises over 60 hours of gameplay and an extensive co-op mode!

Additionally to the new release, we're launching a week-long promo on Spellforce Platinum. You can grab it now, until Tuesday May 31 at 6:59 a.m. EDT, for half the price - only $4.99!
I have been wondering for a while if I would like the Spellforce series.
I LOVE RPGs (played almost every one of them since 1995).
I like turn based strategy, but I HATE RTS.
I guess I could like Spellforce if the RPG aspect is more important than the RTS elements (what really spoils my fun in RTS is resources management (ask my banker how untalented I can be about it :P) and waves of ennemies attaking continually.)
How do you think I would like Spellforce ?

The RTS element is certainly important .. especially towards the end missions when you cannot beat the whole map with your pack of heroes anymore .. but it might have enough RPG in it to get you to like it. It certainly gives you that " I need to explore that corner / open that chest / solve that puzzle to find a better weapon / armor" feeling that you might enjoy in RPGs. Great games in the end!

Good game but unsure why no expansion pack. Got box gold version so will wishlist this for now and buy in a sale.
Another RPG release !!!! .... SIGH !!!! ..... Not for me I'm afraid GOG.

sera: To those wondering why no gold edition. Currently the gold edition is $20 on steam, do you really believe they will half that price for a less popular and less loved (only due to being less known and the rabid fanboyism of steam fanboys) download service?
Yes, but mind that the Universe Edition is $22 on GG, and that includes every SP game released so far.

It is a RTS actually, with RPG elements. Similar to Warcraft 3 where you also control heroes.

Ok, thank you very much. I think I'll give it a try then, just for the sake of my explore-every-pixel-of-the-map-and-solve-every-quest mania :)
Wishlisted for now, but I'll buy it eventually.
Releasing an RPG at a time when people are (hopefully) playing your own, fantastic and new RPG (The Witcher 2) could perhaps be considered bad business. Not because it takes sales away from your own game, but because there will perhaps not be as many day 1 sales for this release as it could have been.

Jowood is on the way out though, so it is good to grab their games while you can. When GOG had that first sale they said there was a chance that the games could be taken off the catalogue, so I would download what you want now to be sure.

wow. GR's alt got it.
Thanks for the giveaway thewishingwell.
I hope the add ons come too, Really want this but fearing that the jowood titles will go off the site some day gives me a sad face

:(
It is a RTS set in a fantasy world. Will pass for now, I thought it would have included the expansion pack too.
Wishing well is early for once. Oh well have it on disc anyway in a gold edition with the expansion. So not interested. I'd think about getting it again if it had the expansion, but otherwise I'm none too fussed.
