The portals connecting the shattered islands of Eo start to collapse. The whole world is in panic and despair.

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/spellforce_2_dragon_storm]Spellforce 2: Dragon Storm is a refreshing “RPG meets Fantasy Strategy” combo, in which the RPG elements just enrich the awesome RTS experience. The GOG.com version of Dragon Storm is a stand-alone expansion to the second part of the game.

Chaos reigns over the mythical land of Eo and the Shaikans investigate the problem. Upon closer inspection they reveal ancient ruins of the long forgotten first race to walk the plains of Eo: the Shapers. Once the rulers of the world, the Shapers discovered the Essence of Magic, and the struggle to control the essence led to a civil war and the apparent extinction of their race. Shaikans awaken one of these ancients, the Creator, and now chaos spreads. The only ally the Shaikans can muster is the race that once saved Eo from the Shapers threat the Dragons, exiled long ago. This add-on expands the universe by adding the Sheikan faction, and also adds a new campaign, more loot, spells, and a complex crafting system. Revisit familiar grounds, meet friends from your past adventures in Eo (incl. The Soulbearer or Flink McWinter), and (of course) save the entire world from doom.

GOG doesn't compete with Amazon, plus that is the retail copy with all that entails, including DRM.
Does LAN multiplayer require unique keys similar to Shadow Wars which says ("To get your unique, multiplayer CD-key, please see this support article.")?

Nice bonus content for this release even if it is a bit expensive for a stand alone expansion.

I certainly won't pick it up for the convenience/bonus content at full price since I played through parts of it with my kid several years ago, but maybe as an impulse buy on sale (assuming I wouldn't need to buy two copies to 'battle' my kid).

Not really. The Universe edition doesn't have any DRM (I'm fairly positive).

jamyskis: Comparing GOG with Steam is like comparing apples and oranges. You don't need to tell anyone here that Steam is a rip-off - we all know this. The vast majority of AAA titles on there are available on CD, DVD or even on GOG for much cheaper, but Steam fanbois will insist that Steam is cheaper nonetheless, usually quoting random mid-week madness or weekend offers that last a whole two days in the process.

The problem as I see it is that it is a indication of GOG's getting slightly arrogant in the face of community loyalty, something that seems to happen to a lot of publishers and distributors over time. This is perhaps the first example of a title I've seen where GOG has actually been one of the if not the most expensive provider (Witcher 2 notwithstanding). I don't doubt that they are well aware of the fact that Spellforce 2 plus expansion is around €10 in retail stores all over Europe, and it seems to me like they are relying solely on community sympathy such as yours and their anti-DRM credentials to sell it.

To be honest, my beef is not the fact that GOG has not bundled the expansion pack with the original. If they had sold Gothic 2 for $5 and then Night of the Raven for another $5, I wouldn't have minded too much.

Unfortunately, in the face of hard competition, GOG in this case just does not cut it. Most people spend their money here because GOG is a good service provider that supplies good games at good prices without DRM, not out of some misguided and unfounded loyalty.

In the event that GOG should switch to DRM or cease being so competitive on price, they will most likely switch to another provider. This doesn't make them traitors, rather it makes them quite normal consumers.

So please stop with your condescending insinuations that those who object to this are somehow Steam fanboys betraying the noble GOG cause. GOG is a business like any other and is not immune to criticism.
Comparing Steam to GOG is valid because they are both competitors selling digital games.

This is a digital product so you compare it with other digital versions of it. Of course you're going to see it cheaper retail, that is the same for mostly any game in recent years, hence why special offers are used so often in the digital world and a major reason many of us use it. It's how I got many games on GOG and Steam.

If you want, I'll compare it to other digital distribution services as well to prove my point:
Impulse is $9.99 for standalone
GamersGate is $19.95 for Gold or $14.95 for standalone
Direct2Drive is $9.95 for standalone

I'm from the UK so the prices at these digital services are much higher than they are for the States. so the price GOG have set here is a bargain compared to other services that want me to pay £8 or so for each.

I stand by my thoughts that many of you are just extremely spoiled and ungrateful. This is obviously the price the publisher/developer want it set at and GOG.com don't have much of a case if this is the price it is sold at elsewhere.

Yeah, and make it free, naturally. #irony
Also, I am fine with STeam, as long as the games they sell doesnt require me counseling with their customer support, which is practically nonexistent. BUT GamersGate is a bunch of tricky bastards, had multiple really bad experiences about them, I will never buy from them again, as long as I can get the game from anywhere else.

Go one step further. Screw the financial problems of JoWood. They should pay us to procure their games.

I honestly don't know (my Google-fu is failing me today), but it's usually safe to assume that a retail game has some kind of DRM or copy protection associated with it, even if its only a simple disk check.

Regardless, GOG is not even trying to compete with physical copy sellers like Amazon, so it is unreasonable to expect their prices to fall in line with theirs. They are only trying to compete within their actual market, which is really only made up of services like Steam, Gamersgate, Impulse, etc. I think enough of us have already shown that the GOG price is certainly in line with that market.

Actually, they should pay us for downloading this.
It's GOG's website, they can charge what they want to, charge what they want to, etc...I really don't like that song, but, it felt appropriate.
Truly though, I think releasing a more singular game (say Gothic 3 for JoWooD, or Civilization 2, or Dungeon Siege 2-EA, or even Silent Hunter 3, etc) may have garnered more sales for them then a stand-alone expansion of a realitively new game....I see though that it is by JoWooD, so maybe they wanted to get it available to people now before it may be a very hard game to come by if JoWooD sells out or whatever and it's gone forever. Still Gothic 3 would have rocked far harder in my book, but, I'm an RPG fan, so I'm biased, and after last weeks release of Heroes Chronicles I am fully saitiated and content. mmmmmm Chronicles, delicious. ;D
And remember folks, having a new game added on to GOG is not a right for us, but a great privledge that we have access to another game, that I'm sure some people will like very much...Praise be to GOG. :D

I was hoping the delay on this release and the EA expansions was heralding a new expansion set price point (say $2 or $3) but I guess not so much. I know that's not ideal but I sort of want all the missing expansion sets and was hoping for a light at the end of the tunnel. Oh well!
As for Ds is a standalone game the price tag is ok. The expansions requiring the original game must be bundled together as usual. Let's hope this is a prelude to Gothic 3 with CP.
