MechaTofuPirate: What version of Space Quest 4 is it? Hopefully it's the cd version so it has the voiceovers.
AndrewC: From the trailer GOG put up on YouTube it seems that SQ 4 has voiceovers but 5 doesn't. Alright, thanks. Space Quest 5 never had any voiceovers so that's not an issue.
Hopefully when they release the first 3 games, they include the original version of Space Quest 1. I only have the crappy boxset released a few years back which includes the remake of Space Quest 1 but not the original. Then maybe GOG.com can do a separate release of a collection of all of the remakes Sierra did.

Wow, a DRM free Sierra release, which is awesome. But about 3/4 of the posts so far are just bitching about the price. Is $10 really a large amount of money to you people? I, for one, really appreciate having Sierra here. And I've played the first two games of this series to death and probably couldn't get into the graphics. So Space Quest 3-6 are the only ones I'm interested in. So this pack is definitely on my wishlist.
Thanks, GOG! :-)

I think the price is fine considering how much it's sold for everywhere else and the crappy collection from a couple of years ago doesn't even have the cd version of Space Quest 4 (I think). But it would be nice if when the first 3 games are released, those are only sold for $6 but it seems like they're probably putting a lot more work into those games if they're being released later so who knows.

Collie: I always personally remember Space Quest being the lesser of the 'Quest' adventure series with some poor attempts at humour. Or maybe that's just my memory of the magazine opinions back in the UK during the Nineties. The 'humour' probably translates better in the US where people seem to laugh at anything if the US sitcoms are anything to go by.
Because bad television is exclusive to the US.
These games are pretty silly, as adventure games go. I like them a lot but I guess that's just the stupid, mouthbrething American in me. BRB, I need to DVR Two and a Half Men.

I'm not very familiar with the Space Quest series, and I was just wondering why some screenshots (from the 4th it seems) have the mentions "Space Quest X" or "Space Quest XII"?
Looks very interesting, though, even if I'd like to buy the first three before playing these.

Brilliant games! Too bad the third is not part of this package, however, because it's my favorite game of the whole series. I already own the series three times so I won't be buying this I'm afraid.

Hm, i had a lot of fun with SQ, i liked the SciFi trivia jokes littered all over the games [for a good time, don't call Hal etc] and i hate sitcoms, i never liked Married With Children, nor That 70s Show. When it comes to comedy, i've always preferred the british comedy style, which could make a funeral a laugh fest. And considering all the death jokes in SQ, i'd say it tends more forward that approach.

epmode: Time travel! Oh, I should have guessed, it seems that the Quest series has a lot of crazy stuff.
Thanks for the answer (if you were not joking of course ^^)

Space Quest! SPACE QUEST! INSTABUY!
My GOD, people, do you have any idea just how much nostalgia this series invokes in me? I grew up with Quest, and Space Quest in particular was my favourite in the Quest adventure game series. As I have mentioned before, these games are definitely not for everyone. There is a very good reason they don't make 'em like this any more, but if you are a patient and forgiving kind of gamer, you will find a lot to love here.
Just be warned, these games are a lot more rough than the fine-rounded diamonds in the LucasArts catalogue, but Sierra was a very different company, and their games have a different feel and gameplay that I would say is more hard-core than the later generations of adventure games. For example, you will die a lot in Space Quest; the games will kill you on a whim just for the gag, and when the games don't do you in, you will probably seek out new ways to die just to get the accompanying joke. It is part of what makes this series so memorable.
There are also the occasional timed puzzles and mazes to get through, but there were more of them in the three first games.
Just keep in mind that you are supposed to be bumbling, cheating janitor after all, not a space hero.
Oh, and for those of you bitching about the price.... please. This is Space Quest for crying out loud! It's a super-classic adventure game series, and well worth a measly $10. End of discussion.
And don't forget folks, this is the definite present day release of Space Quest, none of that cheap Vivendi DosBox hackjob you get on Steam. This is the collection to get if you want to experience classic adventure gaming at its best, and at its worst, all in one package. I know I love it, and I think most fellow retro-gamers will too.
GOG, I love you. You know I do, right? ;)

I think I've played all the space quest games except #6. 3 and 4 are my favorite, 4 is fairly lenghty, 3 is pretty short but sweet (giant robot gladiator!). #5 was pretty low on my list, the story line was just meh and didn't really grab me.

I too am one of those with the DRM-free rereleased boxed versions - but I never could get into the first 3 games, so I've only finished the 4+5+6 :)
So for now it's only on my wishlist.
