Wishing well strikes again. Not really my thing these real early games so I'll leave for someone else. Don't forget to claim your code at http://www.gog.com/gift/

Indeed. A little "thank you" both to show appreciation and let others know the code has been redeemed would have been nice, I think.
Also, while I like Space Quest as much as the next guy, I'm afraid that I will never be buying these, at this price. Abandonware at US$10? What's the big idea, eh? And even factoring in a future 50% discount, it would still be too much, IMO.
There is no such thing as abandonware. If you downloaded these games from such a site, you are in the full sense of the term, a pirate. And should as such pay tribute by buying these games from gog. Abandonware is a stupid term.

Zeewolf: At this price it's a shame they didn't provide both options.
As for the text parser, I agree with you FlameWhip. It's actually a great way of controlling adventure games, provided the parser is fairly intelligent.

EndlessKnight: I agree. I love the hidden nuggets of humor that the parser allows for, and that Sierra often took advantage of. It also provides another layer of challenge and discovery.

Really? I find it annoying and a pain to use. It's just so less intuitive than using the full mouse controls.

Yes, finally some good OLD games on the store :-P

I love mouse controls as well. Parsers were often held back by time, technological limitations and sometimes bad programming. Of course, when you think of it, a well done parser is only as limited as the imagination, patience and vocabulary of the user, just like many things in life. I've seen poorly done mouse interfaces in addition to parsers.
I remember a band very closely resembling (as much as you could resemble anything in very simple EGA (or was it CGA?) environment) ZZ Top playing "Sharp Dressed Man" (in PC internal speaker beeps) in a Mos Eisley-like cantina in the original Space Quest 1. This was apparently unauthorized, and so the area in the updated 1990 (or so) VGA version featured an entirely different and fictional alien band and song instead.
I don't understand why GOG released parts 4-6 many months before parts 1-3, but I am glad that it at least secured a licence to publish these classics so many years (over 2 decades after the first game) later. Discovering all the creative ways of dying was for me one of the most fun aspects of the first two text-parser games, as well as of other Sierra On-Line games of the time like Leisure Suit Larry and King's Quest, and those of us who played these games to completion learned to save our games practically after every step long before that became the standard practice (in an F5 or F6 binding) in most PC first-person shooter single player campaigns.
and now with Quest for Glory to follow.......????????!!!!!!!!
<Splutter>9.99</splutter>
Great games, way overpriced. I've even bought SQ 1-5 for $8 boxed before, sheesh.
Fantastic to finally see the complete series here. Except that I bought a copy of the Space Quest collection (games 1-6) for like 6,99 USD. Come on GOG, 10 bucks is a bit excessive for just the first three games.
Thanks GOG. Will need to add this to my wishlist in the hope of a weekend deal.

Tantrix: Seconded. Com'on, Activision can't enforce full price on this one 8(

priceQuest: Especially as the VGA remake is missing from the pack. Why, by the way?

These are a port of the recent cashgrab re-releases of the old Sierra adventure games at retail, complete with missing remakes and pdf documentation. Seriously, no love for the enthusiast and made worse because previous collections of Sierra games were done with so much more love and care.
I'll pass. I'm glad they're represented on the store, I'm just not thrilled with what Activision is doing with these.
