Great release. Terrible price for the first three. Should be $5 for 1 - 3 or $9 for all 6. 3 -6 might warrant $9.99, but not 1 - 3. I would have purchased this immediately if all 6 were $9, or even $15, but instead I am going to wait for a weekend promo. It is more of a principal thing toward the game companies. It only takes one to set a high price point and they all will. As customers our only voice is our dollar.

yeah most old games are just in dosbox, the GPL is (usually) in the install folder for games where you can do this. Lucas arts games are an exception as they recompiled the interpreter for modern machines (this means problems if you want to use them with SCUMMVM)

That's good to know. I think I have some other games on Steam which are probably running in dosbox. Which I would know if I'd gotten around to installing them yet!

Price too high.
I got 1-6 on Steam for $5 during a sale anyway. Considering GOG sales are so much less extreme, and it is trivial to launch the game without Steam's DRM if you know anything about DOSBox, I don't see a reason to be consistent with the Steam prices.

Oh, yes. This release makes me happy. I for one applaud the lack of the VGA remake. I felt like that one missed the point completely. From what I recall these games especially SQ2 had great text parsers. I remember thinking at the time when the industry went away from text parsers that they were making a mistake. Anyway, way to keep 'em old GOG!

When it's a choice between having the VGA remake which by removing the parser tore the soul out of the game and having the original game with all the content intact then you're damn right. I personally loathe the VGA remake of SQ1 and any opportunity to purge it from the conciseness is more than welcome.

As the original was adored, the VGA remake is also loved by the classic adventure game community, but for different reasons. Just because you're unable to appreciate more than one type of style, that doesn't mean that others should not have the chance to view the entire series, if only from a historical standpoint. Personally, I can see good in both versions. I love parser, but there's a lot more to the game than that.

At this price it's a shame they didn't provide both options.
As for the text parser, I agree with you FlameWhip. It's actually a great way of controlling adventure games, provided the parser is fairly intelligent.

I agree. I love the hidden nuggets of humor that the parser allows for, and that Sierra often took advantage of. It also provides another layer of challenge and discovery.

I still remember that 'suck blue frog' was a cheat code in many of the QFG games
