After releasing a more complex and demanding game earlier this week, today we're offering you a pure mix of mindless-action and fun!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/shadowgrounds]Shadowgrounds is an arcade style, top-down alien shooter, and actually it's one of the best there is. The game features a pure old-school type of gameplay and graphics that were extremely nice when the title was released and still are more than appealing by today's standards. The plot revolves around aliens invasion on a distant space colony, but where the game really shines is the huge arsenal of weapons and boss fights. You can choose an impressive number of deadly weapons like flame thrower, grenade launcher or electric gun and upgrade them throughout the whole game. And you'll need those powerful guns when meeting face to face with the BIG bosses! If you're scared to wander through dark corridors alone, play in co-op mode with up to 3 friends on one computer. So are you ready to see for yourself what is lurking in the shadows?
Hmm not generally into arcade shooters, but it looks like it could have promise.
Weird.... it posted my message in a different topic to the one I clicked new post in... So erm.... Shadowgrounds, uh yeah. Seem to remember it doing not so good in reviews. How does this compare to Alien Shooter 1 & 2?

Also I think Trine is a little new to be on here (if admittedly awesome).... but then I think Shadowgrounds is a little new to be on here. I don't associate it with Good or Old but to each their own I guess.
(edit: original post wasn't meant for here O_O)

This game is decent, but the cheaper Alien Shooter 2 is honestly a lot better.
This looks a lot life a glorified Alien Swarm. Is this worth anything?

Apparently $9.99 =P

prakaa: This actually looks really good, almost like an older Alien Swarm. I think I remember this coming out a few years back
or a newer Alien Breed? :)

Frankly, not much, it had good graphics back then but now it doesn't appeal for that and the gameplay isn't much frantic or fast.

If you really want mindless shooting, take Painkiller.

I thought it was a pretty cool game. I had more fun with it than the new Alien Breed games or Alien Swarm. I hope the next game in the series will be released soon!
Recommended, own this one and the sequel Survivor. Both are better than the new Alien Breed Series and Alien Swarm.
This is indeed a pretty cool little game as is the sequel. Definitely suggest it to anyone who likes a good shooter where you sometimes need to think
Heeeeeeeey. I got this with the dev's other games in a pack on Steam last Christmas! No wonder the game sounded familiar.

This is a pretty decent game, and it runs okay on my crap PC, I'm just not so sure about that price... which is coincidentally the same on Steam, but still. >_>

Shadowgrounds is a great game. The idea of the flashlight as a weapon (against some enemies), respectively as an "attraction" on some other enemies. The growing anxiety, as you walk along the corridors, finding splatter and decay everywhere, hearing movement, but cannot see anything moving (but never for very long, oh no...never for very long...).
Yeah, that`s some good piece of nerve-wrecking alienshooter-action.
And the topdown perspective gives it a nice touch...reminds me somehow on another fantastic game: Incubation- Battle Isle:Phase IV, which is similiar although Incubation is a turn-based strategy, instead of the realtime action in Shadowgrounds.
How do you play this coop on the same computer? One player uses mouse and keyboard and the others use gamepads? I've got a logitech rumblepad that should work but are there any other specific models the game is compatible with or can it be any USB gamepad?
Too bad I bought the two of them on GamersGate last christimas.

Well, if that version some day shows compatibility problems and GOG can keep it up, I might buy it here in the long run.

Or I might trade them for something else. They're still giftable there.

Krankor: Cool Game, great addition to the catalogue. Sadly I already own it... :(
Pretty much this.
YES! This is only the second game release that I can say I already owned. I bought it a while back off Steam, along with its expansion. A good game, lots of semi-mindless action. I even liked the story a little bit.
