hashishen: I've played Robinson's Requiem years ago, and it was fantastic. I believe there is no other game that could be better described as 'survival'. Alone in a hostile world you have to be very careful and look out for different diseases, fractures etc. which if left untreated may, and often do, become lethal.

The Unreal World is pretty good. The "yay it's the beginning of spring and you have loads of gear and food" scenarios not so much, but the harder ones range from "out on a hunting trip with your father, he was just killed by some nasty animal" to "you're a slave in a camp full of vicious slavers, have fun escaping". Another classic is "it's winter, you're wearing rags, in the middle of nowhere with nothing to eat, also you're badly injured and you're going to have to make bandages from what remains of your clothes to survive".
Also, it has photos of LARPing Finns running around in the woods.
Ah, I've heard many good things about the game from some reliable people. Glad to see it here.

Well, I never worked as a reviewer, but I know how to write reviews (finished philology).
If you're interested (I am :) ) send me some contact info and "whatsitabout" at hashishen@gmail.com
Really GOG, PM feature is a must!
I am Hoping now that with Robertson Requiem being released here that we can get the Ishar trilogy. Played those games to death on the atari falcon. A bit like dungeon master but bigger and your npc's had their own likes dislikes in who you could recruit.

What are the Ishar games about? I heard that there were supposed to be a game called Ishar Genesis which was to be the prequel to Robinson's Requiem.
The Ishar games are fantasy RPGs. I've never played them myself, but they're kind of like the early Might & Magic-games and the Eye of the Beholder-games.

The Ishar Trilogy is amazing, from the digitized sound (we are talking DOS effects here guys!, these games did hi-fi sound using your internal speaker!) to the gorgeous graphics and story, i've played the three of them and almost finished ishar 2 and 3, but then some nasty bug poped in (maybe because i had a hacked version) and i could never finish the game...
If they ever get released ill buy them in no time!

I love you GOG!
That's just hugely excellent !
I can't happen to find a working version of Deus since... back then on Win95b.
Robinson's Requiem was too difficult imho, but maybe now I'm older, it will be playable ;).
Thanks a lot gog.com !

Well in this case it probably won't matter, the game will be hard either way. :)

I find this too. Recently got Star Fox 64 on the Wii, and can't get more than half the medals on normal. I remember being able to get most on Hard when I was a kid! ...Maybe I just don't have the patience these days, what with 'important' things to do. :(
Yep, it's so damn hard game ;) But i will try it now, after couple of years ;)
