lukaszthegreat: Sure she will. she is a woman so her place is in the kitchen. both in RL and in games!
sorry... couldn't help myself.

Catshade: I looked at the GOG cover of this game, and interestingly it clearly depicts a mustached man on the front. :P

That's because everybody knows the greatest chefs are men. :)

Aliasalpha: Sad that she plays so deeply into the stereotype but she owns more cookbooks than I've ever seen, I think its an addiction

I think what she needs to hear is "Damnit, woman... Get out of the kitchen !" ;P.

That's actually kind of strange if you think about it. The stereotypical view is that women are the ones that cook, but all the 'great' and 'celebrity' chefs tend to be men, especialyl those that own famous restaurants

Yet they were probably trained by their mothers and wives.

Not really. Men's "vision" if you want, is (or at least was) for a long time men = everything work, woman = everything home.
Actually being called "doing housewife cooking" is probably one of the worst insults you can hear in a professional kitchen.
Apparently, there are sims for everything.
OMG! I can't believe it! I spent hours on this game, and finally, after all these years, I can play it again with no DRM.
Thanks GOG! :)
I have a weakness for some tycoon games, maybe this one will be worth a try.

cw8: I liked the game then. Always made my hungry for some reason like the Pixar's movie, Ratatouille.
Hope Rollercoaster Tycoon series is next in line.

Rollercoaster Tycoon on here would be epic amazing...

Miaghstir: Yet they were probably trained by their mothers and wives.

Naah. None of the men I know who are good at cooking learned it from their parents (and females of my generation tent to be just as useless in the kitchen as typical males). They learned it after they moved out.
And to be a chef, you'll typically need a formal education and an apprenticeship. You don't learn to be a chef by watching your mother cook (and wives come in far too late to have much of an impact on a career choice like this).
I think it looks interesting, I just picked it up.

Aliasalpha: Sounds like one my sister might like, shall send her a link

Will you send one to my little brother as well? She'll get a kick out of this title.
Well, in all honesty, I'm not entirely excited about this addition to the catalog. That said, I'm not a big fan of Tycoon games, so my view on this is pretty biased. Enjoy!, whoever buys this.

Am I the only one who thinks Rachel Ray is a great chef and quite sexy?

That is rather strange, given your username :)
I played Restaurant Empire back in the days of its release.
The campaign felt like a rather lenghty tutorial though, but the game itself wasn't bad at all. The fact that RE 2 came out some months ago and that you can probably find it around at 14,99$ or so, makes me think that this game shouldn't be priced at $9.99, especially when you consider that that's just a little less than what I paid for it 5 years ago. The same could be said about Strategic Command, too. Both these titles, IMHO, deserved a 5,99 price tag.
