Woha! I wasn't expecting that :P Very good addition to the GOG!
I know a lot of people were really hoping for this....good going, GOG. :)

Lafazar: It's debatable whether it's "better" and really a matter of taste. Personally I think the two games are actually very different concerning mood and atmosphere, so I like to play them both for different reasons.
Advantages Myst Masterpiece:
-better lighting and curved surfaces (it was just not possible in real time at the time realMYST was released)
-simpler and more intuitive controls, navigation is a lot quicker
-low hardware requirements
Advantages realMYST:
-free movement (makes exploration much less confusing sometimes)
-much higher image resolutions and even antialising possible
-changing weather & more animations (water etc.)
-additional age to explore

Ugh, you did have to add that last one, didn't you? :) I was figuring that I might be OK with my old version, now I'll have to wishlist this one!
Any word on if that works under x64 Windows 7 yet?

If I remember correctly that new age wasn't really much to explore. It was nice to have it as an extra though and I am thinking about buying this myself to run through it again. YAY Real Myst!
I bought Myst and Riven, but Myst does not work but crash. I get no answer to my support-question etc.
I would have bought this game, but I fear it will not run under Win7 64bit...and as nobody helps you with this problem...
Hmm... I haven't played Myst yet, and while whatever I play is going to be from GOG, I'm not sure which to get. This new edition is probably the least likely to make me puke and never play Myst again, but I don't want to play it first if it just *isn't* Myst.

Sweet! When GoG released Myst Masterpiece, I held off on buying it, instead opting to get my old copy of Myst working; I took some tweeks, but I got it to work. However, I'm very interested in seeing Myst in full 3-D. I may end up buying this soon.
Thanks, guys!
realMyst is another game from the GOG.com catalog that I first played through GameTap (back when they were good). Personally, it's freaking incredible. It makes me wish they made a realRiven to go with it. XD
My only problem is that they rerecorded the opening narration...I'm used to the tone and inflections of the original, so even slight changes are jarring. On the upside, you can now tell what Atrus says ("what kind of fool are you?") if you go to D'Ni at the end without the missing page of his linking book.
I miss my old GameTap subscription less and less with GOG.com around. :3 Here's hoping for Caesar III, Pharaoh and Zeus in the future.

I kind of expected this to show up, but not for just 5.99! Nice!
I played Myst, way back. Very interested in this one.

orakiorob: I would love a pack with the two versions with a discount. I haven't bought the Masterpiece Edition yet, and now I want both versions.

There'll be a Myst series discount at some point in the future, I'm sure.
And by the sounds of the announcement, they'll complete it.
If it lags on your computer, get the latest Indeo codec. Solved it for me. (And I already sent a support question... Sorry GOG Team. :( )
Actually, it looks and sounds gorgeous, I think they tweaked it a decent amount. Runs much smoother than the disc version I once had. (I'm on XP, so can't confirm for Vista/7, sorry guys.)
Oh, I heard realMyst runs fine in WINE too, can anyone try that out?
EDIT: If by chance you get URU (complete with expansions) somewhere down the line, that would be wonderful. That's the only thing now missing in my Myst collection. :D

GOG.com: The last of three editions, realMYST brings us one step closer to completing our collection of titles from Cyan Worlds.
SOLD!
Thanks guys!
I'd just like to second the call for someone on Vista\Windows 7 to comment on whether this works. The old CD version of RealMyst is incredibly difficult to get running on them. I tried to put it on my new W7x64 install awhile back and absolutely could *not* get it to work. So, if the GOG version has been patched up to run properly, I'd be willing to pay another $6 to be able to play it again.
