The last of three editions, realMYST brings us one step closer to completing our collection of titles from Cyan Worlds.
Unlike the original Myst and the remastered Masterpiece Edition, realMYST offers a free-roaming environment, instead of prerendered still images with some videos, where available. With visual quality similar to, if not better than the Masterpiece Edition, combined with being able to move almost anywhere you want, this remake is a big step forward, letting you really explore the exotic Ages. The storyline remains pretty much the same as the original one (which is a good thing), but with a few additions, like an extended ending, featuring one more Age for you to discover.
Fantastic!
This is absolutely amazing. It was almost impossible to find this game anywhere in retail in Europe, and now we get a DRM-free digital copy.
Thank you so much GOG team and Cyan Worlds!
Yay! I'll now be able to replace my pirated copy.
I;ve always wanted to check out the Myst games and now the price is right! ka-ching!
Nice addition GOG, thanks.
I'm not much interested in Myst-style games but, I think I wouldn't be very happy if I had purchased Myst Masterpiece a few days ago, and now GOG is offering a better version for the same price.
Because it's the same game, isn't it?
As a suggestion, maybe GOG could offer RealMyst at a lower price for those who had already bought Masterpiece...

I would love a pack with the two versions with a discount. I haven't bought the Masterpiece Edition yet, and now I want both versions.
Hey, this shit just got real!
...okay, I'll shut up.

It's debatable whether it's "better" and really a matter of taste. Personally I think the two games are actually very different concerning mood and atmosphere, so I like to play them both for different reasons.
Advantages Myst Masterpiece:
-better lighting and texture/model/polygon detail (curved surfaces, etc.), it was just not possible in real time at the time realMYST was released
-simpler and more intuitive controls, navigation is a lot quicker
-low hardware requirements
Advantages realMYST:
-free 3D movement (makes exploration much less confusing sometimes)
-much higher screen resolutions and even antialising possible (Masterpiece is stuck at 640*480)
-changing weather, day & night cycle & more animations in general (water etc.)
-additional age to explore

HOLY MOLY!
INSTANT BUY!
OMG!
I know €5,99 isn't much, but I've already bought Masterpiece from gog.com. If I knew you were going to release realMYST I wouldn't have bought the Masterpiece edition. Don't tell me you guys did this to squeeze more bucks from basically the same game...
