Finally, a new platformer on GOG.com! Or, to be more precise, one of the greatest titles the genre has ever seen!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/rayman_forever]Rayman is a 2D platformer game and the first title of a famous series that spawned sequels and spin-offs beyond count. The Forever edition, released by Ubisoft around 3 years after the original game, includes a bunch of goodies, most notably a level editor and Rayman By His Fans - 40 of the best staff-picked levels made with that very editor.
The game itself is a true platformer, with a strong emphasis on timing and reflex-based challenges, rather than combat. Its difficulty seems just right, in a way that makes you have to earn every level, but leaves you thoroughly satisfied afterwards.
Finally, Rayman still looks great, despite being over fifteen years old. This is mostly due to its amazing, fluid animations, but the game's high-color graphics and creative level design are sure to make an impression on you as well.
Overall, today's release is a pure, classic platformer that every gamer should at least try out.
I can confirm that Rayman forver lacks more than half the soundtrack.... which is a big let-down.

The soundtrack that comes with the game however features 50 tracks, the game however only 20 (!) tracks. And, yes, I can confirm that some of the missing tracks were in the original game.

Please GOG, give us the original game which features the FULL soundtrack!
Good to see some variation in the release sched. here. Though I won't personally be buying this game I'm still greatfull for its release; I can now catch up on my playlist a little bit.
We NEED a HD remake for the PC!
This is one of those games I played when I was little that me and my sister liked even though we sucked at it :S

Oh well I'll buy it see how far I can get to.
Love it!!!!!!!!!! Keep the platformers coming!!!! Great game, great music, sound and animation!

Kabuto: Why do some members insist on writing pointless reviews for games they have no intention of buying.

Two reviews:

1. 5.99$? It's a bit to expensive. .

2. this is not a bad game, i rember playing it when it came out, and if it is ever part of a promo then i would consider getting it.. but not at the price it is at the moment .

What is the point of these reviews? If you have nothing to say about the actual game, why even post? For that matter, how is $5.99 expensive?

LordKuruku: It's simple. Some people are severely lacking in mental faculties. Pity them, for they are borderline mindless and cannot help but post useless reviews in the hope of garnering some form of attention.
Many "reviews" that are written on the gamepages on gog.com are pretty much normal comments you can expect to see in the forum thread sections (aka not really reviews but worthless comments)

My review took me around 20 min to write and I'm quite happy that I could rate the game fairly and talk about it, as I have posted earlier in this thread.

I hope I can continue writing reviews for games on GOG.com in the future as this is something I rather enjoy doing and enjoy sharing my views and opinions on games

Well yes. The reviews page is no place for things that aren't reviews. I suppose that's what the 'no' button, and in the case of far too many of them, the 'spam' link as well, are for. Nobody reading reviews cares that you, whoever the hell you are, "think it's rally god and i bot it but on sail". There's no reason not to click no, it's not helpful, and they should be feel some remorse when they have an outrageously negative ratio on their review.

Not that they'll notice or care, most of them probably forget about it instantly. Maybe they thought they were still in the forum, or stopped paying attention and just wrote a review for no good reason, typing and posting it instinctively, devoid of any level of conscious thought, possibly intoxicated or merely under the influence of some form of stupid.

As for your review, assuming you wrote it, it's not too bad. I'm no review writer myself, so it's more than I've had to say. I personally wouldn't rank it twice as high as you did. Given, I'm an obsessive platformer buff and couldn't dream of comparing it to most Sonic and Mario games, but I'll give you this much; you indeed cannot go wrong.

thanks for letting me know what you think

Yes, the review was written completely by me and belongs to me :)

I still stand by my comments that his first game is really good and can be compared to the older Sonic/Mario games

In terms of 2D games I think Rayman was more interesting/harder/fun than any mario game, Mario games were always good but they were also pretty basic and I do not think any of them had some of the crazy stuff Rayman had

In what other Platformer game can you fight a giant Saxophone?

I rest my case ;)

I went through yesterday and started voting the reviews that were _actual_ reviews up, not the "i r poor and want this game 4 free gog is meen" comments that don't belong there. Having done so, I'm seriously thinking I need to pick the game up at some point in the future. When I don't have 100+ games to start (:
I don't care much for performers but I will have to give this one a try . . . =)
Also: Here's something that I personally made just for you guys

enjoy

yes! thank you so much to the spammers for bumping the thread
I recall that the DOS version of this game had a nasty habit of speeding up at random intervals, a problem that DOSBox successfully emulates. Has that been fixed in this version?
Any news on the apparent trojans/viruses in the game files?
Most likely false positives but with so many different AV programs detecting
something an official statement would be appreciated.
