Finally, a new platformer on GOG.com! Or, to be more precise, one of the greatest titles the genre has ever seen!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/rayman_forever]Rayman is a 2D platformer game and the first title of a famous series that spawned sequels and spin-offs beyond count. The Forever edition, released by Ubisoft around 3 years after the original game, includes a bunch of goodies, most notably a level editor and Rayman By His Fans - 40 of the best staff-picked levels made with that very editor.
The game itself is a true platformer, with a strong emphasis on timing and reflex-based challenges, rather than combat. Its difficulty seems just right, in a way that makes you have to earn every level, but leaves you thoroughly satisfied afterwards.
Finally, Rayman still looks great, despite being over fifteen years old. This is mostly due to its amazing, fluid animations, but the game's high-color graphics and creative level design are sure to make an impression on you as well.
Overall, today's release is a pure, classic platformer that every gamer should at least try out.
Hmmm, i may get this when i next have a 3 or more day drinking session
Great game, for a while then it gets exceptionally hard. It's a shame a HD version was never done or at least some form of graphical upscaling akin to the sort most Emulators are capable of today. I'm sure I'll pick this one up sooner or later anyway though, despite owning it on god knows how many systems.

Update: Forgot to mention, an interesting bit of Trivia for anyone interested; this was designed by the same guy who did Beyond Good & Evil (Michel Ancel)

So this version comes with the level designer & the 40 levels designed by fans?

BenLaserLove: So glad you could release Rayman!

Just wondering, how is the soundtrack managed? According to Wikipedia, "various sections of the soundtrack were erased in an effort to save space on the CD."
The soundtrack (originally redbook CD audio tracks) is there in the form of 19 ogg compressed files with a total size of 25 MB. Duration is about 38 Minutes. I assume this is the audio from the Rayman Forever release which would indeed miss a few tracks.

I have the CD of the original game, so I can check this when I get home.

If this is indeed the case, it would be really nice if the GOG team could give us the original version of the main game.

I still have "Rayman´s World" on CD. The english release was named "Rayman Gold" with the same content (additional 24 Levels and a level editor). "Rayman Forever" has, as far as I know, 40 additional fan made levels and all the content of the Gold version - is the level editor included in the GoG-version as well?

edit: heh, Wealin was a bit faster :P

As a platformer, Rayman is not really the best. Navigating drops and platforms can be wonky at times.
But as a game, it's absolutely wonderful - fantastic sound, art design and all.
yes nice one GOG team
Wonderful. I LOVE Rayman.

I already have the Playstation version (the best in my opinion), but I'll probably get it one day.
Not that keen on platformers but i remember good things about this game when it first arrived think was one of the few titles for the atari jaguar.

Have fun all who bought it.
NUOHMYGOD

I loved Rayman! :3

Darling_Jimmy: No arms! No legs! No neck! All attitude!
Repped!

Yeah Rayman was cool, though I seem to recall it being quite difficult to play.

That's what I call an INSTABUY!! :D Now, if only we (by we I mean YOU) could get EA and American Mcgee's Alice :D
Wow, didn't expect that. Finally something different from all those RPG and RTS releases in the last months. And the price is very decent too. More of it, please!

Wishlisted, for now. ATM I'm well equipped, but it will definitely be bought when I run out of games.
Is this the first Ubisoft game for 6$?

DodoGeo: Is this the first Ubisoft game for 6$?
The third, following Might & Magic VII and VIII.
