JacobNZ: You defend your inadequite arguements by attacking people. Often you do not even try to argue, just beat people down out of the block with unnecessary insults.

Rofl, and you're a lying twat too.
I haven't made any arguments (spelling error #1238947) yet. And I don't need to. I have nothing to prove.
As I said in the previous post, which you obviously did not have the mental capacity to fathom, I consider you a troll. Hence I do not bother to make any effort replying to you in a thoughtful or respectful manner, because you do not deserve such courtesy.

Red_Avatar: No one's listening? Are we safe?
Ok. Roberta Williams, despite her name, is maybe the WORSE game designer among the wonderful Sierra crew (the Coles, Lorelei Shannon, Josh Mandel, Al Lowe, Jim Walls, Jane Jensen....)

Risingson: Agreed. Roberta Williams has also been known to be a real prick.

I used to think Roberta Williams' adventure games were the best, but that was because i didnt know about games like Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, and such, which are far superior than anything Roberta Williams did.

stonebro: Or because you do not have an adequate argument, thus result to mindless insults.
If you have nothing to prove, why the insults? Seems like your insecure.

Off topic but is Grim Fandango any good? A friend gave me her cd's a few years ago and i have never played it. Never into the genre but playing GK at the moment and i love it.

it's a classic. but i still prefer tim schafer's full throttle. the controls of fandango are a big hassle, that was the sort of late 90s "lets make adventures more tomb raider actiony" era which was the final nail in the coffin of the genre.

It's pretty good. It's a near classic. Tim Shafer-made adventure game, you dont need anything else. Roberta Williams just cannot make games like this one. It's like a noir movie made into a game.

As I've said before in this thread - some games you have to give a second try.
I simply couldn't get used to the controls first time around, but then about a year ago, I dug out all my old keyboard controlled adventures - including Grim Fandango - determined to finish them - and surprise surprise, it was a fantastic experience.
I absolutely love Grim Fandango - and yeah, a real classic.
As for Phantasmagoria - I do believe I have a boxed version, but really can't remember if I ever finished it.
Think I found it too gory and boring for my taste back then, lol - but I might just give it another try with this gog version.

ah i thought it was a point and click. Tomb Raidy type game with puzzles,i think i will pass. Cheers for the info guys.
I agree, although I do like Grim Fandango, Full Throttle is my favourite adventure game, mainly due to it's setting.

Whatever happened to Roberta Williams anyway? Did she kill someone or something? Haven't heard of her in years.
I just can't help it... I love this game as much as Sanitarium, because they are both SICK!!!

That organ-stuffing scene was hilariously hideous.

in one of the user reviews (you might be here in this thread) one of the quotes was mentioned:
*sort of spoiler
"a woman's body is a wonderful thing, but the head is useless"
lol that is so awesome that you quoted that. me and my bro have been using that quote since 1995 every now and then. good to know we're not the only ones who thought that was so hilarious in a sick way
do you guys know any other GOOD twisted games like this one or Sanitarium?
(well, except Harvester of course :) we want Harvester!!!)

After the decline of FMV and adventure games in general, with the rise in popularity of action games in the late last decade, she pretty much quit the gaming industry. I think her spouse Ken Williams left too, they sold off sierra to their current owners and went on to travel around the earth on a ship. I believe i read somewhere in an article about her that she would consider going back to game making if she could figure some good game she could make for an mmo.
