Sorry but WOW! WOW! This is good news and cant wait For the rest to come out. Would live to see all PG2 in a package deal when you release them.
Thank you so much GOG.com
Edit:
Cant Get game because Gog.com is still flagged as Frud site. Tried to go through pay pal and the same thing. Please fix this as it seems to be getting worse and you are the ones going to have to fix this problem as I have already delt with the credit card company and they wont change GRRRRRRR....

It's a step in the right direction, although I had to laugh at the "PG3d' was an improvment over PG2" line....since the general opinion of the wargaming community is that PG2 was a much better game, though PG3D was prettier.
Here's hoping that GOG will make all the "General" series games Available,

This is going to be aproblem as long as GOG proceeses through Cyprus...which has got a nasty reputation for hosting credit card scams. I have two cards, and my credit card works, but I would really rather use my debit card but can't because it is blocked.
GOG really does need to look into this problem, since a lot of people are being blocked from using the site. Cyrprus is bad news as far as credit card fraud goes. You used to be able to get around it by using PayPal, but GOG changed something back in January and now you can't use Paypal as a workaround.

A US-only problem, I suppose? I can use both my debit card and paypal here.
Unfortunately, this is pretty much the single worst game in the entire 5 Star General series.
However, AWESOME seeing an SSI title appear back in the light! Bring on some of the better 5 Star General games and Imperialism 1 & 2!

I use a credit card for my GOG purchases and have yet to encounter a fraud warning. If you have discussed it with your card vendor and have found nothing wrong . . . you might check your AV, firewall and spyware programs. The processing site may be marked as fraudulent by those programs which could also block your transaction or throw up a warning pop-up.
Also, your browser may have the processing site in the untrusted site list as well. I have to turn NoScript off but other than that . . . no problem purchasing games from GOG . . . =)
Is this game like Command and Conquer with Tanks? If so I probably will be very lame at it. I am hopeless at most RTS games. Is Civilization 4 Classified as an RTS game? Because I am good at that one. This looks like a good game though.

No, neither this or Civ4 is an RTS game.
RTS stands for Real Time Strategy and these are turn based games.

Seconded, I haven't encountered a problem yet either. FlyByU, dudealb, if you're willing to post the name, maybe you're both with the same CC company? Or just buy a prepaid card for GOG use.
Okay thanks for letting me know about that Gyokzoli. I'll wait and see if GOG releases the rest of the series. So I can compare the games with each other. Perhaps even buy the complete set if GOG releases a compilation deal.
I have had only one time when I had my Debit card rejected and that was because I had spent all my money on it lol buying games off here. Waiting for the next big Promo now Hoping for another 50% sale

Tarm: I never liked the General series. That turn limit annoyed me too much.
Fantasy General was my biggest disappointment. I really liked it so I tried to stand the turn limit but then ran into one of the worst computer opponent "cheats" I've ever had the misfortune to meet.
You couldn't concentrate on one type of strategy like say going mostly cavalry for the speed. If you did the computer got bonus to its units experience and other advantages.
What's the point in being able to buy troops according to your playstyle if the game force you to play in only one way?
At least the Strategy Guide Book is a good read so I got something out of it anyway.
Enough negativity. We got a SSI game! Want more! I really really do. :D

bofferbrauer: RTFM! ;) It tells you NOT to use just a single Kind of units, and that the enemy units will have higher levels when meeting sole unit kind or elite armies. having a good mix is the key (also true in true warfare!). You can always mix&match to your Game style, all unit ttpes have theur perks. Also, having just heavy cav would be very hindered on third continent in the jungle, as they can't move fast here
I got Panzer General: western Assault here. Is that the same game or just a part of the game offered on GOG?
I hope to see Panzer General 2 (named Panzer General IIID in Germany, just like the German Tank), as I can't get it running on nowadays computers

True the manual say that but I always try anyway! :P
There is a workaround. Keep some lowlevel cheap troops like slingers (?) around and then you can have a highlevel expensive core of few elite units that do the real fighting. But that's kinda boring.
I still say it's a idiotic design decision by the gamecreators.
This is good news! I really hope Fantasy General will show up here, it is just my kind of game. I haven't played it yet, but I have high expectations. I would gladly pay 9,99 $ for Fantasy General but for the General series in general, I do think that 5,99 is a more reasonable price.
The mix of a turnbased war-strategy game that uses hexes, an often praised soundtrack which is a mix of original compositions and classical music, a variety of units that have their own drawn portraits (and perhaps even descriptions?) sounds very yum-yum to me.
If you like Age of Wonders, the war-game part of the Civilization series and the battles of the Heroes of Might and Magic series, this (Fantsy General) might very well be a game you will enjoy a lot.
Also it will fit right in with GoG's great selection of turn-based games.
Look at this:
http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/fantasy-general/screenshots
For writer2036. A turn-based game is like chess or monopoly. Every player\computer player has their turn to do their stuff. In a RTS (Real time strategy game) every player\computer player do all their stuff at the same time.
GoG.com has many turn-based games, many of them are really good. Here is a list: http://www.gog.com/en/search/sort/genre/turn-based
About half of them are strategy games while the other half are RPG's (role playing games). RPG's are a very different genre that usually doesn't have much grand scale strategy, but often focuses on exploration, story, building up a characters statistics, collecting various items, tactics and sometimes role playing.
RPG's are very neat games too, but they require more of your time than a map\scenario in a strategy game.
I will add that I really hope for Panzer General II too!
Hail Arishem! Hail Exitar! The Star-Gods have returned!
The vast sea of stars stretches into infinity before me..

Kezardin: According to Moby Games, Panzer General - Western Assault is the german release of Panzer General 3D (the original PG3D, not the renamed PG3D :) )

Have you tried Open General ? It runs on current hardware (latest version was released April 2010) and makes it easy to swap between user created PG2 campaigns and equipment lists.

Thanks for your help! I will try that one, sounds very interesting!
---- gog.com is getting WAY out-of-hand with their prcing for old sh!t...
[EDIT]
Yes, I own it, and no fucking way do I support this kind of pricing, along with MOST of their other wares... ridiculous!

Oh, I have brought it up with my Credit Union...and they have decided to block all transaction with websites which process their orders through Cryrpus.

GOG have two price points $5.99 and £9.99 and I think you can see by the number of $5.99 games on here GOG would, given the opportunity, release everything at $5.99. The price point is the publishers choice and it is pretty clear that Ubi have decided to use $9.99 for every one of their releases even HOMM1.
If you think $5.99 is to high for 'most of their other shit' then you may as well go back to the i-store where ridiculously low prices are the norm. This site will never get the number of uses the i-store has and therefore needs to charge realistic prices in order to stay in business.
