Damn you GOG.com, I was just like "great I still have some money on my card".
Then I see this.
I can't not buy :(

Same situation here... I already own this game, but as usual one of the disc has gone bye-bye and I've been aching to play this game ever since. A really old-fashioned shooter in the best tradition of Doom, including a good replacement for the chainsaw.
Edit: Maybe we could continue with other games from eastern Europe, such as Croteam's Serious Sam (yes, I already own all of them including the third coming which was only released for PS2, but there are others who don't)

SWEEEEEEEEEET!
Also: damn you for taking all of my money GOG. Here, have some more!
Edit: Yes, having Serious Sam on GOG would rock. That game was a riot with co-op multiplayer.

Agreed. For all people who are playing PainKiller for the first time: The game starts a bit slow with a lot of running through one big graveyard. Don't let that fool you: The beginning seems like the game would get boring quickly, but once you get out of there, the environments become a lot more creative.
I missed this when it was first released but not now. This is fantastic thank you gog and Jowood.
Looking forward to a lot more of Jowoods games.
Now to download and get ready for some fast action shooting. yippee
Painkiller is NOT a good old game.
Not good or not old?
No it's not old, but seeing how it picks up on classic games like Doom it still fits here very well.
Just bought it for the second time :)

Oh boy, and here I thought this kind of discussion was over...
Doom-styled shooter without all that "story", "cutscenes" nonsense - you just blast the everloving fuck out of anything that moves. It's the quintessential FPS, a concept almost as old as the genre itself.
Good enough for me. And old enough, I'd say. It's not on the shelves anymore, and it's still a game you would want to buy - GOG is there to service those needs as well.
It looks like a fun game with a great atmosphere. Sheeeeeit, I'm sold.

It will be 5 years old in a few months (originally released in April 2004). How old does a game have to be before you consider it to be "old"?
That brings up an interesting point, the game information page has the wrong original release date on it, unless that is the date the "Black Edition" originally released...
Indeed, this isn't a good old game ... it's a fantastic old game :-)
