I can't believe it's finally here! When I saw the "Don't Be An Oucast From Orion Banner" I thought , "Nah, this is too good to be true. They're giving us false clues". And then I see Outcast available on GOG for 5.99$!
I still remember I had a demo of Outcast that came with my boxed copy of Independence War (which I wasn't very good at, go figure!) when I was a kid. You had a massive environment available to you in the demo, but you only had a 1000 seconds before you had to restart. Me and my brother used to play that demo all the time, trying to figure out how much we could do in just 1000 seconds. Could we get enough money to buy ourselves a mount? How many of those bad guys could we kill? Could we get those vulture eggs on top of those spires in the sea? How far could we get? What were those temples? Could we kill an entire village of peaceful villagers? Could we kill an entire village of peaceful villagers AND their village elder? How many uses are their for the dynamite besides blowing up locked stuff? Good times, good times.
As a relatively young gamer, I'm not given a whole lot of opportunities to get all nostalgic. GOG has given me a few opportunities with Divine Divinity, Jagged Alliance 2, FA-18 Hornet, Earthworm Jim, the Fallout games, Knights And Merchants, the Oddworld series, Stronghold, The Longest Journey... And now this! Thanks again GOG.
