Just bought and installed it.
...There's an intro cinematic now? Definitely didn't recall this on the dual-CD version.
The best part, though, is that EVERYTHING JUST WORKS on my flagship desktop (Core 2 Quad Q6600 3.2 GHz, 8 GB DDR2-800, Windows 7 64-bit). Speed seems about normal (maybe a tad fast, but it's definitely nice and smooth like I want it), there's no issues with mounting the twon-ha, the excellent soundtrack is in the game...
Simply put, THERE IS NOW OFFICIALLY NO EXCUSE FOR ANYONE TO NOT HAVE PLAYED OUTCAST.

Ok. I might have to buy it again then. It's easier then messing with the CD version for hours.

Did you really download and install it? It works perfectly for me on win7 64bit and ALL of the annoying bugs are gone!

I bought and downloaded it earlier this morning (read launch morning) and it worked pretty well after I realized after the cinematic it put up a circular menu in the middle of my screens (I have 2 monitors so it kind of blended with the blues of the edges of the Win 7 background lol) but it went into a smaller screen which I'm fine with because it is still playable and looks great despite everything heh

You can make it fullscreen -- check the Outcast forum. Not sure if it'd work across two monitors though.

Of course, I did.
I also installed it on Vista 64 bit (before that it was XP 32 bit). The only difference was that the intro movie didn't work on Vista, for some reason, but music was OK. Fullscreen didn't work on either system, and the same goes for launching the game from the main menu.

I already own the CD version. Just wanting to check if there are any differences between this version besides the patches being applied ? Is the intro video better quality ?

This is just amazing. Finally no hassle when it comes to Outcast. And finally music! I've never gotten it to work on modern OS's so that's one hell of a bonus to an already epic game.
One question: Can you play without the dvd mounted?
