Oddworld just got Stranger...

We visit the epic world of Abe and Munch to meet a third protagonist of the [url=http://www.gog.com/en/catalogue/#all_genres/search/oddworld/]Oddworld universe. Meet the Stranger, a badass bounty hunter. This installment of the series brings us into the spaghetti western setting of Sekto Springs. The main goal of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is to gather enough moolah for a mysterious operation that the Stranger has to go through. To fulfill this you’ll hunt a plethora of villains and criminals which, like in any bounty business, are worth more alive than dead. The Stranger is on the trail of the ultimate bounty that would pay for all of his needs: the last of the Steef, a race of guardian creatures that are purportedly extinct...

As in every Oddworld series game, Stranger’s Wrath is oozing with the signature design of Oddworld Inhabitants polish and it is an unique blend of a first person shooter with a third person action adventure game. Either shoot your way with your trusty firearm or traverse the vast plains of Oddworld. Another example of the Oddworld flair for the bizarre lies in the game's weapons. Stranger, as a professional bounty hunter, has a two-barreled crossbow that uses “live” ammo ;) Live being living and lethal. Choose from 9 different critters to lock and load your weapon and unleash living hell on various Outlaws and criminals. This game features an extensive list of upgrades of Stranger’s equipment, such as the crossbow, the munitions, storage capacity and armor upgrades.

Don’t hold back, check out the Just Add Water remake of the classical Oddworld title from the original Xbox. It’s up for grabs DRM-free on GOG.com for $9.99!

Protoss: Last time I checked, "old" did not mean "out for 8 months soon". Oh well...
The actual game is six years old. It's just that there wasn't a PC version for the longest time. I'm surprised they even bothered porting it that late in the game.

This was my first time I was able to grab some code. I feel... more adult now. :-)

Already bought it on Steam. Since they haven't made any improvements for the GOG edition, I do not regret my decision.

ELGRECO: Indeed the link you posted is funny...you know why? it happened to about 25 users out of 25 million STEAM accounts.........unlucky indeed ;)
Just imagine, you're one of those 25. Achievement "Unlucky exception" unlocked :P With the DRM-free version you can play your game, even if Steam is having trouble.

avatar
ELGRECO: also you must be forgetting the STEAM SUPPORT right?
Steam-Support isn't really an argument FOR Steam. Every day I check Steam-Forums, I find someone new complaining about the missing support.

avatar
ELGRECO: Well i wasn't referring to Greece or generally Europe but to the world's biggest games market...and you know pretty well what that is...right?...also the U.S. Steam is INDEED $9.99
Yup. The US is the biggest market (even though I'm not sure if this counts for the PC as well). And, yes, in the US they pay with US-Dollar. Would be ridiculous to charge them in Euro, no? But how does this affect me and (especially) you (since you are the one who mentioned the "same" pricing)? You said "Steam>GOG, because they give you Achievements for the same price".

avatar
ELGRECO: As regarding the steam problems...well check the last update on steam regarding the online service....and also you can play the steam games(at least those that are not steam-protected) whenever you want OFFLINE too...
Wow, what a feature! You can play your games offline too! Ehmm... Yup. I can play all my GOGs offline. I don't even have to switch anything outside the game to "Offline-Mode" oO

ELGRECO: [Irony mode ON]:
For a GOGer,you seem "unfamiliar" with the "achievements" refferences you make....
[Irony mode OFF]
I'm not a "fanatic GOG-Soldier" or something. Indeed, I have some games in my Steam-library. Try to resist Torchlight for 3 Euros. Try to play Portal or Half Life without Steam. Try to resist Worms Reloaded... I just prefer the DRM-free GOGs over Steam-versions. It's cheaper and Steam can't mess anything up.

So.... It worked now? lol :P

ELGRECO: The STEAM version of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath has achievements and it's about the same price as GOG

So.....STEAM version > GOG version
I just checked those steam achievements and at least 18/20 are progression achievements so while I usually laugh at the artificial achievements making a version superior statements, I can laugh even harder here.

Yup, quite a coincidence. One day I complain about it and next one it's not valid anymore. Someone down there listens to me, it seems. :-)

*Off to offer more sacrifices.*

FraterPerdurabo: And I didn't call you out on the price, did I? ;)
I simply said two things:
1) You saying that the soundtrack is available on Youtube is equivalent to saying that the game is available of Piratebay. It's available, but illegally.
2) You might not find DRM a big deal but many people, especially here on GoG, do.

That's all.

ELGRECO: 1)Never said soundtrack on youtube is equivalent to the illegal pirated version.I actually said you can find the soundtrack for free.THAT'S A FACT.If you think that is illegal then you can report to Youtube all the accounts and uploads of the soundtrack to either be banned or deleted. That is YOUR OPINION of what is illegal
2)DRM-Free is an advantage but when compared to only very few "STEAM-protected" games" eeehh....actually it's NOT A BIG DEAL..
3)I also said that the GOG price is the same as Steam and also that the Steam version has achievements which i explained on a previous post for what they are in a game. That doesn't sound "erroneous".Well i know you were referring to those 2(the ost and the DRM) but the "erroneous"(the way you said it)was very generic and it actually included the price ;)
You should make a habit of reading people's posts before responding to them.
KKKKKKKKKKKHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just recently got The Oddbox on Steam! :( If I'd have known they'd be getting it on GOG, I woulda waited. :(

Either way, Stranger's Wrath is a great game. Everyone should totally play it! :D
Looks really cool

Wishlisted :)
I'll replace my Steam copy someday when this is on sale.

It's a great game and after some patching the PC version became really well done.

Eeeh..actually the purpose of the achievements is to expand the replay value of the game...i really haven't checked if those are progression achievements or not but sure they are better than the soundtrack(at least for me).Oh and the actual reason i would buy the gog version is because is 7 and something euros(as @real.geizterfahr stated above) which i didn't notice the first time i checked the deal....
Well @Kabuto i can tell you this:about a month ago the steam had Abe's Odysee,Abe's Exoddus,Oddworld:Munch's Odysee,Oddworld:Stranger's Wrath all together 5 euros!!!(which i actually missed and learned later)

Beat that GOG!!! :P
