A truly epic game has arrived on GOG.com. Myst was the best-selling game for almost a decade, right until 2002. The game was so good it actually forced people to finally buy a CD-ROM drive! And now you can rediscover it for only $5.99!
[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/myst_masterpiece_edition]Myst Masterpiece Edition is the remastered, higher-quality version of the original Myst - a first-person graphic adventure game. The story puts you in the shoes of "the Stranger", an otherwise unnamed person who arrived in the strange world, or "Age", soon after reading an unusual book called "Myst". The world appears to be deserted, so the Stranger is left with only one thing to do - explore. Here is where the game truly shines - there are a lot of unique locations to visit, each with a hidden secret waiting to be unraveled. It's not just about exploration, though, as there's an enthralling backstory with multiple endings to discover. You absolutely must not miss this legendary title.
omg omg omg one of my favourite games. Thank you guys that is one hell of a great addition to the gog website
Wow ! Now that's a great game !! Too bad I suck like hell at these games...
Mindless clicking and having you write clues in a thick notebook. Ah, what fun.
I do remember the newer Myst games had a built in "camera" to save you paper.
This game is legendary, however I doubt that my mental capacity and perception will suffice for this game (I am notoriously known for overlooking even obvious clues).
WOW, this is a surprise for me, really. And for $5.99? Will be a must buy.
Boom! Headshot!
Definite instabuy, though I probably wont get around to actually play it until after Christmass, much too busy before then. Nevertheless, a major release in every sense of that word. I can't imagine anyone who has not heard about Myst; one the best and best selling PC games of all time, and one that remains unique to this day. The atmosphere, the story, the settings, everything is a masterpiece indeed, and a prime addition to GOG's catalouge. Santa Claus comes early this year!
Oh, and a question about Riven: will this be the DVD edition, or the normal CD one? There isn't a big difference between them, and I will definitely buy it as well all the same, just curious.
And one last thing: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! :D
Doesn't get much more classic than this. If you somehow have never tried Myst, make the small investment.
If I didn't already have it, I'd buy this one right now. Basic Adventure Game fan Requirement right here.
May have to buy this.
It's really annoying the box set I have with the first 3 games in it will not run on Vista (unless I revert to an old version of Quicktime, which is impossible when I have other programs that rely on the latest versions).
As a result, I've never played it.
Bah.
And I was hoping to shorten my "bought but not played" list of games during holidays, but I guess it is time to pick up my cc again... ><
Waitwaitwaitwait. Wait.
Does this mean no annoying Quicktime installs, no compatibility hickups and above all no frickin' multiple CDs for Riven???????
I think I need to change my pants.
I already have the whole Myst collection and Uru boxed, but this is just...convenient. :D

I know the feeling.
That's why I have added it to my wishlist.

I tried this on gametap a while ago, could not work out what to do. I've wishlisted it for now and may get it when I've cleared some backlog or if it appears in a good sale....
That's GREAT!
I'm a huge Myst fan, but my uncle has all our games. I'll definitely buy it.
"The moment I fell into the Fissure, I realized the Book would not be destroyed as I planned. It continued falling into that starry expanse of which I had only a fleeting glimpse. I have tried to speculate where it might have landed, but I must confess such conjecture is futile. Still, questions about whose hands might one day hold my Myst Book are unsettling to me. I know my apprehensions might never be allayed, and so I close, realizing that perhaps the ending has not yet been written." -Atrus
