Featuring one of the most impressive visuals of the time, a lot of full-motion video and, of course, the host - Lance Boyle, come two parts of the fun-packed MegaRace series, bundled for only $5.99!
[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/megarace_1_2]MegaRace 1 and 2 are both arcade racing games. The most awesome thing about the series is the setting. Imagine being a contestant in a game show, in which you can vent your frustration on a bunch of highway gang punks in a virtual environment, for the joy of millions of mindless viewers. You either have to win the race or eliminate your virtual competition, but, as Lance Boyle himself says, "It ain't real!", so who cares? Before and after each race you'll be treated to a video sequence from the game show, packed with punchlines and gags both witty and just plain silly. If you haven't played MegaRace yet, you're missing out on a lot of fun. Get yours today!
It's so funny game! :)
you evil evil monkies. I have exams in four weeks! and I am broke :(
Megarace 1 was my first PC game I purchased (aka: my parents bought it for me) Never finished. And I did not understand 'story' either :) well until a month or so ago when I watched intro on youtube.

A racing game?
Maybe, *sniff* maybe. I'm not sure if I want it :-/
Well, there's actually more "arcade" to it than "racing". :) In my opinion the game's best feature is how the crazy game show is presented, by which I mean the FMV sequences. :)
"Me me me me megarace!"
That's what I heard everytime I used the scratched Megarece 1 CD I have somewhere around here. And I loled everytime too..
I vaguely remember this title. One thing that strikes me is that the graphics look quite good for a 1994 title.
Yay for FMV titles though. I know most of them were crap - but for some reason I've always had a sweet spot for the old .FMV - games of the mid-late nineties era.
I think I need to get this, $5.99 for both games is a great price.
I'm sure I used to own the 1st Mega Race at some point and remember it being heavy on FMV, so it was probably one of first CD-ROM games I owned (other than Rebel Assault).
Will check it out tonight :)

Yeah, I think it's pre-rendered, with the cars superimposed on the FMV-background.
(edit: at least MegaRace 1, not sure about the second one)

Megarace 1 has very bad graphics. what do you mean by good?

I'm not talking about the graphics per se, I'm talking about the games.
Many of the FMV titles were really bad games.
Ahh FMV. Cheesy, low budget love. Racing games are a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine too. Perhaps not right now / this week, but down the track.
The first game was so horribly bad it was good - The gameplay was terrible (the idea of running out of gun ammo particularly badly conceived) but 'Lance Boyle' was so well delivered it made up for it.
That bloody Particle Accelerator mission drove me mad trying to win!
Many people in Brasil had Megarace 1 in a localized version back in the mid 90s. Lance Boyle was called Chico Flecha (Chico comes from Francisco and Flecha means Arrow, if you're wondering) around here. A fun fact is that nowadays I know that the guy who dubbed Lance was actually the same guy who dubbed Shiryu, the Dragon Saint from Saint Seya (Knights of the Zodiac).
I never had the game, but played a lot at some friends house. At a certain point I bought a magazine with Megarace 2, but after finishing it a couple of times, I sold the magazine and the game to a friend of mine who loved the series.
Maybe I'll add these two to my game library. The offer is very interesting. But not now. I've got too much to play, to much to pay for and little time to play.
Sounds fun. Depending on the weekend promo I may snap this up... (or the weekend promo).
