As the last release from the first batch of the huge deal with Electronic Arts, we’re giving you a chance to become a wizard that needs to save the world.

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/magic_carpet]Magic Carpet is an extraordinary action shooter game from the acclaimed Bullfrog Productions. All magic wielders are battling between themselves for the most valuable resource (no, not oil) - mana. Casting huge meteor showers or invoking a terrifying thunder storm, one could summon a castle in the middle of an ocean or just create a volcano right on top of this little harmless village. If you’re not the type of guy that likes to let the hell loose you could always just throw fireballs here and there or just summon a massive skeleton army to plow your way through the plethora of hostile creatures. Apart from other wizards and genies fighting you over the oh so precious mana, you’ll encounter various fantasy monsters ready to devour you (like a hydra or a dragon) or convert mana into more monsters (like the crabs do ;)).

Apart from this awesome flying-carpet action you can slow down a take a look at the normal lives of the townsfolk to admire the normal day to day activities that the AI performs. And if we’re on the subject of AI, the one controlling the opposing wizards is exceptional even when looking from today’s perspective.
If you ever wanted to live the life of a carpet-zooming wizard now you can! Want to do much more than just sing-along “A Whole New World” with the prince and the princess? Then this is the game for you!

I've only played the demo of this one for a moment, judging from the reception i did miss something. ;)
I wasn't aware this was a shooter. I always thought it was some kind of p'n'c adventure!

Screw HI-OCTANE, all we need is Syndicate ! =)
To be honest I never saw the appeal of Magic Carpet... also not back in 94, but it seems I am the only person. I always found Magic Carpet incredibly dull.

Hi-Octane on the other hand... real fun.. remember playing that on a P90-machine...

I found the Magic Carpet 2 demo a lot more fun than the first one.

And spent a lot of time on the Hi-Octane demo. But when I got the full game, it just didn't do it for me for some reason - only played it for an hour or two...
Nice to see Magic Carpet released on here. I never got to play it back when it actually came out on disc. Hopefully, I'll get my CC situation straightened out soon and get to rectifying the mistake of ages past.

I wonder if we will get Wasteland on here, last I heard EA did hold the rights to it...

Hahaha, making up for the lack of Rayman 2 redemption code? :P

kentomatic: I don't know why, but the screenshots for this make me REALLY wish that Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis were a part of the catalogue.
THERE IS A PC VERSION?!

Also, this was a 1994 game? I need to get this.
Never played this back in the day. Might give it a try someday, but for now I'll pass.
Bah, was waiting for a real wing commander or a real ultima ... or syndicate, populous, powermonger but not ... that.
Booo
I love this game so much, this is the FOURTH time I'm buying it. I initially bought it for my MS_DOS machine back in the '90s. When I stopped using that, I bought it for the Saturn, and then the Playstation. Such a great game. Graphics looked bad on both the Playstation and Saturn, but the gameplay is amazing. So I'm very glad to see it here at GOG.

Hopefully this will be the last time I have to buy it. (Unless they finally come out with a sequel that lives up to the original's gameplay.) :)

Treewyrm: I'm happy to see Magic Carpet here (it's amazing game, much like all Bullfrog games), but once again it's strange that situation repeats Dungeon Keeper (missing Deeper Dungeons expansion), Magic Carpet here seems missing expansion "Hidden Worlds". It's great EA jumped in and finally started doing something about their older games portfolio, but either it's EA or GOG or both of them that better catch up and add missing content to the games (yes yes, I'm looking at you too, Descent 1 + 2 pack, quite something is amiss there as well). Are other upcoming titles from EA catalog will also be released missing their expansion packs? Looks like so.

Galimatias: As mentioned before, due to legal/licensing issues we couldn't provide the bonus content on release, but we're working with EA on it and will do everything we can to bring the EA releases to our top notch standard in terms of goodies.

Cheers!
I think it is quite strange to call an expansion like Alien Crossfire "bonus content" or a "goodie". I hope that the use of that expression wasn't a sly intentional way of indicating that there is no hope of ever getting the expansions and that all you are working on is getting bonus stuff like soundtracks and avatars. Can you clarify?
