As the last release from the first batch of the huge deal with Electronic Arts, we’re giving you a chance to become a wizard that needs to save the world.

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/magic_carpet]Magic Carpet is an extraordinary action shooter game from the acclaimed Bullfrog Productions. All magic wielders are battling between themselves for the most valuable resource (no, not oil) - mana. Casting huge meteor showers or invoking a terrifying thunder storm, one could summon a castle in the middle of an ocean or just create a volcano right on top of this little harmless village. If you’re not the type of guy that likes to let the hell loose you could always just throw fireballs here and there or just summon a massive skeleton army to plow your way through the plethora of hostile creatures. Apart from other wizards and genies fighting you over the oh so precious mana, you’ll encounter various fantasy monsters ready to devour you (like a hydra or a dragon) or convert mana into more monsters (like the crabs do ;)).

Apart from this awesome flying-carpet action you can slow down a take a look at the normal lives of the townsfolk to admire the normal day to day activities that the AI performs. And if we’re on the subject of AI, the one controlling the opposing wizards is exceptional even when looking from today’s perspective.
If you ever wanted to live the life of a carpet-zooming wizard now you can! Want to do much more than just sing-along “A Whole New World” with the prince and the princess? Then this is the game for you!

LordCinnamon: In the 6th screenshot, are those all the spells? Or are there more? (don't get me wrong, seems to be plenty, but just curious).

Thanks :)
That sounds really cool, actually. Quite a few interesting spells in there (more than just Damage I, Damage II, ..., Damage IX). Guess it just moved up in priority on my wishlist.

Your awesome (I didnt get it BTW) but its fun to see a code put up then half a dozen people with comments like "missed it" and "dammit"

Appeals to my evil side.

Just out of personal interest, how many such 'random code postings' have you done so far on the various New Release threads? ;)
You got to be a true wishing well.

*ponders what wish he'd get granted for throwing the evil reaver894 and Ubivis into the well*

Gilou: Ok, I am sure that I read the name of the game in the "where is the the Tueday release" and I want to know how some of you managed to guess the ID of the release of the week.
It was in the announcement:

Foolish heathen!
The Wishing Well only speaks the Language of Gift Codes. Do not presume for It to sully It's Divine Tongue with the foul syllables of a mere mortal's language.

I think for reaver, you could get a big wish, but as you want to throw me as well, the well will be really angry and to punish you, you have to throw in 10 gifting codes for this game ;)

I wonder if there's a translator! Might come in handy when talking to GoG's Redeem Gift page ;)

In that case, I'm glad I only considered doing that instead of blindly going ahead and acting on my desire! I'll opt out and, with a heavy heart, refrain from sacrificing you to the poor wishing well.

Indeed. Thanks
Frustrating getting this working under Xpadder for dual analogue controls...I would just use standard kb/mouse combo, but I primarily use a notebook. Main issue is that the keyboard controls for acceleration work like a throttle, whereas I want controls that snap back (IE, when I release the analogue stick then the rider stops). Anyone know of a way to do this?

Treewyrm: I'm happy to see Magic Carpet here (it's amazing game, much like all Bullfrog games), but once again it's strange that situation repeats Dungeon Keeper (missing Deeper Dungeons expansion), Magic Carpet here seems missing expansion "Hidden Worlds". It's great EA jumped in and finally started doing something about their older games portfolio, but either it's EA or GOG or both of them that better catch up and add missing content to the games (yes yes, I'm looking at you too, Descent 1 + 2 pack, quite something is amiss there as well). Are other upcoming titles from EA catalog will also be released missing their expansion packs? Looks like so.

Galimatias: As mentioned before, due to legal/licensing issues we couldn't provide the bonus content on release, but we're working with EA on it and will do everything we can to bring the EA releases to our top notch standard in terms of goodies.

Cheers!
Let's hope you guys will find a way to make it complete. Known to provide nice bonuses and add-ons/expansions - it became a kind of mark of quality, the "gee-ooh-gee experience"(tm). Legal/licensing issues... Heh, the deal with EA was just too damn good to be true without something amiss, right? :P
I can show you the world
shining shimmering splendid
tell me gogers now when did you last
let your heart decide?

I can open your eyes.

Take you wonder by wonder
over, sideways and under

On a Magic Carpet Ride

It's a whole new world.
A new fantastic point of view.
no one to tell us no or where to go
or say we're only dreaming!

A whole new world!
a dazzling place I never knew
but when I'm way up here
it's crystal clear
that now I'm in a whole new world with you

Now I'm in a whole new world with you

Unbelievable sights.
Indescribable feelings
Soaring tumbling weaving
through an endless Diamond sky

A whole new world
(don't you dare close your eyes)
A hundred thousand things to see
(hold your breath it gets better)

I'm like a shooting star
I've come so far
I can't go back
to where I used to be

(A whole new world)
every turn a surprise
(With new horizons to pursue)
Every moment Red-letter

I'll chase them anywhere
there's time to spare
let me share this whole new world with you

A whole new world
that's where we'll be
A thrilling chase
A wondrous place
for you and me.

Can't you just assign the y+ to accelerate & y- to de-accelerate? Sooo..like Left Analog... x- Strafe Left.. x+ Strafe Right. y+ Accelerate y- De-accelerate.. Then Right Analog for camera movement, buttons for spell select and activate. I played the game originally with the keyboard and mouse, didn't really have any problems with the controls. Can't remember if I held the key down to increase speed...or set it like..cruise control...similiar in the way to Descent..
