As the last release from the first batch of the huge deal with Electronic Arts, we’re giving you a chance to become a wizard that needs to save the world.

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/magic_carpet]Magic Carpet is an extraordinary action shooter game from the acclaimed Bullfrog Productions. All magic wielders are battling between themselves for the most valuable resource (no, not oil) - mana. Casting huge meteor showers or invoking a terrifying thunder storm, one could summon a castle in the middle of an ocean or just create a volcano right on top of this little harmless village. If you’re not the type of guy that likes to let the hell loose you could always just throw fireballs here and there or just summon a massive skeleton army to plow your way through the plethora of hostile creatures. Apart from other wizards and genies fighting you over the oh so precious mana, you’ll encounter various fantasy monsters ready to devour you (like a hydra or a dragon) or convert mana into more monsters (like the crabs do ;)).

Apart from this awesome flying-carpet action you can slow down a take a look at the normal lives of the townsfolk to admire the normal day to day activities that the AI performs. And if we’re on the subject of AI, the one controlling the opposing wizards is exceptional even when looking from today’s perspective.
If you ever wanted to live the life of a carpet-zooming wizard now you can! Want to do much more than just sing-along “A Whole New World” with the prince and the princess? Then this is the game for you!
This game, BQXE, is utterly amazing, XH3H. So far ahead of its time it's positively 2JHM, not to mention mind-boggling. If you don't have it yet, well, what are you U5ESing for?

lugum: are those just bad screenshots or has the whole game that crappy graphics?
the third pic, is that a bird, a plane? or those fireballs...
What do you want from a 17 years old game. Actually this gfx looks good for its age.

No expansion again?
Oh, it's that game that had terramorphing, motion blur, anit-aliasing and water reflections without any acceleration.
Or did they add it in Plus?
yes

GTLC: Stunning. The second best series to come out of Bullfrog (After Dungeon Keeper!).
Ahem. Syndicate.
I'm happy to see Magic Carpet here (it's amazing game, much like all Bullfrog games), but once again it's strange that situation repeats Dungeon Keeper (missing Deeper Dungeons expansion), Magic Carpet here seems missing expansion "Hidden Worlds". It's great EA jumped in and finally started doing something about their older games portfolio, but either it's EA or GOG or both of them that better catch up and add missing content to the games (yes yes, I'm looking at you too, Descent 1 + 2 pack, quite something is amiss there as well). Are other upcoming titles from EA catalog will also be released missing their expansion packs? Looks like so.

offcourse its an old game, just like there are many here. take ultima underworld atleast it looks like making you want to buy that game.
we may know it's a nice game but for those who don't screenshots can help.
make them more appealing is what i am saying, there must be better pictures then a screen full of yellow pixels?
I remember playing this a couple of years back. It was too fast to play because it needed very low system requirements. Very nice game though.
Doesit have multiplayer? Gog.com site sais that it's singleplayer only.

IIRC you need netbios.exe which GOG probably can't legally provide:

and you *might* need Hal Megabuild of DOSBox

The german pc gaming magazine "PC Player" said in their video review that multiplayer only worked over Novell networking software. I doubt that anybody has it nowadays ;)

edit: Oh, haven´t seen the post of DosFreak ;)

Instant buy for me as a longtime fan of bullfrog catalog

As for the graphic comment - sometimes its not about the look of the game but the mechanics that power the game. The graphics are by no way amazing in todays standards, but nothing makes me tingle more than the memory of having the ground underlate underneath you, much in the same way the game "virus / zarch" did when that game came out

The world and sea look amazing when you consider the year this game came out in. The engine is heavently influanced by the sega16 hardware board (outrun, fantasy zone etc) when it comes to the enemies, and anyone seeing a screen shot of the ferrari crashing in outrun wil know what I mean here.

My advice buy it and see at this price its worth it - otherwise all I can say is Shiny Graphics really do not maketh the game" as shown by thousands of titles I could mention (rise of the machine anyone LOL)

You may not be aware but this is discussed to death here and in the forums, and GOG have stated licenceing is the culpret. EA also will be having there own Steam type shop opening soon - food for thought, but like you said, dont expect to see games and expansions anytime soon for the EA stuff
