See? See!? It's all a marketing strategy. When your audience expects too much from you, release a few not so good games to get their expectations down, then a couple of unknowns to keep them in a lull... then BAM! Instant knockout.
I'm on to you, GOG.
Sadly I don't have a joystick (for gaming, of course) but this game looks very interesting.

Agreed. I tried to play this game on modern harware for years now. When GOG announced their deal with Atari, I immediatly thought about I-War. Then weeks passed... I had almost abandonned all hope... and then bam ! Here it is. Can't wait to play it tonight after work.
If you want to play a space sim without joystick, I'd say go for I-War. It's the most playable thanks to auto-aim. And strategy is more efficient than pure joystick skill in this game.
Ravenger, so you were in the development team for this game ? If so, beware, people in this community might consider you like a god or something :-)

I was project lead for the Defiance campaign, and I also used to be the I-War community developer liaison . I'm so glad to see the game on sale again, and I'll be checking out all the posts on here and in the dedicated forum.

Ravenger: The Defiance campaign has mid-mission save points, but it's still a rock-hard campaign. I should know. I wrote half the missions for it. :)
Great to see this game on sale after all these years. I can't wait to play it again.

For which you have my thanks. I-War & Defiance were great, it was nice to have a decent space sim and was a shame when Particle Systems closed up shop.

Agreed. I never got a chance to play Defiance back in the days (a mistake which I intend to correct soon), but I-War really had a huge impact on me when I first played it. In fact, it is in great part because of this game that I developped my interest in space exploration, which eventually resulted in finding a job in the space industry. So many thanks to you and to the rest of the studio.
OH. MY. FREAKING. GOD.
Instant buy, if there ever was one. Thanks a million, GOG!!!!!!!!!!

epic release GoG. ;)
I have already the Game in the Big Box. ^--^ But, wen i am finished Aquanox, i will buy this brilliant Game. I love the Intro, wen you see the "Pirat" Base and the big ships. And one of them on the front is a Text: "To the Navy, catch me if you can!" epic. :D

Great to see you here someone who was involved in the game. I remember playing this a long time ago and really enjoyed it thanks for one of the best flight sims out there.

Here it is
One ot the best intro of all times, for one of the best games of all times ! Given the poor video codecs available at the time, the 20min intro takes almost all the first disc of the game :-)

Agreed a compelling intro, which also unusually doesn't use much music (like the game itself, though there was a hidden music track in the game data directory which was very boppy).

Would that make you Stephen Robertson? You helped me out on Atari's I war forums a while back with the game. In fact I was just there trying to post about this, but for some reason the board wouldn't let me create a new topic, I think they're doing maintenance or something.
Good to see GOG get back to Good Old Games! Hooray!

I can neither confirm nor deny that :)
I tried to post on the Atari forums too, but posting is disabled which is a shame. I thought maybe they've locked off the forum because it's such an old game.
Ah good. I was starting to think that the Atari deal had gone tits up.
