stonebro: Well, I think Ubisoft must be pleased with the way this is selling. I've never seen a new release fly to the top of the bestseller list this fast. Currently only Duke Nukem himself is able to withstand the onslaught.

Fallout's been on the list since day one!

Sure they must be, selling such an old game for that price......
As some of our Czech brothers wrote, for 10 bucks you can have Heroes 3 Complete (IMO far superior to Heroes1). If ever HoMaM3 arrives @ GOG, what will the price be like? 10$ for RoE + 6$ for AB and 6$ for SoD?
I would like to buy this game, but a couple of things bother me.
First, the buy it now, or pay more later aspect. Clearly GOG knows this game is not worth $10.00 and to rush people to buy now or miss out is a tad frustrating.
I still believe GOG needs to work on fixing some of the games they are currently selling that people are having trouble running.
Second, I think there needs to be a bit more bundling of games. I think to sell more and keep customers happy combining older games into bundles makes more sense.
Gold editions, Complete editions and such should be the ones sold, not the game and then separate addons.
Well, I know this is only my point of view, but I doubt I am alone in holding it.

well, i think the pricing and the normal edition are pretty much ubi's fault

Blarg: HOMM2 was as close to a perfect game as it gets.

Better than HOMM 3? I'm asking because i've played H3, but not H2. And i've absolutely loved H3, more than H4 or H5...
I wished GoG would have H3. :(

HOMM3 >>> HOMM2 >>> HOMM4 >>> HOMM1 >>> HOMM5
HOMM3 was so good it basically dwarfs everything else in the series.
HOMM3 > HOMM1+HOMM2+HOMM4+HOMM5
IMO HoMaM3 wasn't the best from the series, mainly due to imba Conflux which can beat the crap out of everyone else quite easily.

I think it's worth noting that Heroes I doesn't have any add-ons. So I think there is no Gold version or equivalent...

Heroes III could still be the best of the serie, at least in Restoration of Erathia... No add-on, no Conflux.

Well, I can't disagree with this, without the expansion is Heroes 3 much better (and balanced), but I prefer Heroes 2 anyways :)

no Gelu? no sharpshooters? ;_;
Anyway, being complete strategy-retard, such complex matters as gameplay balance are mystery to me :)
I like all HoMMs, from 1 to 5. Especially 2nd - for the most beautiful graphics I've ever seen (at that time :) ) and 5th - for the way all the campaigns were linked.
I think HoMM3 is my favorite in terms of art. 3 just had some absolutely gorgeous castle art. The best of the series in my opinion. I think 5 has the most fun unit graphics, though. They're cartoony, but I always felt that was the charm of the series, and even though they switched over to poly-based stuff instead of sprite-based starting with 4, 5 really did a good job with the unit graphics. As for music, I've pretty much liked all of them, but I think the opera selections from 2 were the best, though overall, it's a tossup amongst 3, 4 and 5 as to which has my favorite music all told. Both 3 and 5 had some good town music, but 4 had one or two towns that I just -really- liked, and a couple of pieces of map music and combat music that I also really, really liked. So, like I said. Toss-up.
Story-wise, I'd go with 4 or 5. Those were some pretty good campaigns. The ones in the first three games felt a little too disjointed for me. Still fun, but only loosely tied together. 4 also had the benefit of putting the heroes in the field, and I kinda liked the idea of having an "army" that was essentially nothing but a "special ops force" of heroes. Taking out piles of dragons with nothing but three knight heroes and three cleric heroes all at Level 20-30 was kinda fun.

I'm a strategy-retard too. And since I'm a -slow- strategy-retard, Heroes' turn by turn system is good for me ^^.

True. (to me.)
