Finally, a fighting game on GOG.com! And not just any fighting game, but Guilty Gear X2 Reload, the best version of the very best game of its kind for the PC!

In the age of 3D fighting games Guilty Gear X2 proves that 2D ain't dead yet. Featuring complex fighting mechanics, extremely appealing, colorful visuals, over 20 characters, many gameplay modes, and a lot of moves and combos, this game won't disappoint any fan of the genre.
The characters are by far the most prominent of Guilty Gear's many features. This goes for the entire series and X2 is no exception. An insane surgeon with a huge scalpel and a paper bag on his head. An innocent-looking girl with two wings - an angel for one and the grim reaper for the other. A cute pirate girl that fights using an anchor bigger than she is... If that's not unique, we don't know what is!
Because of its many distinctive qualities, and an over-the-top cast, the Guilty Gear spawned many Internet memes, most notably Bridget. Don't you think she's cute? If you don't know the correct answer yet, though, maybe it would be better if you don't find out.

chrisbales: Does guilty gears x2 reloaded support widescreen? If not, what are the avalable resolutions.

Was that really necessary? As far as I can tell, I don't think there are any resolution settings whatsoever. It looks to be designed to run in 4:3, and there is an option to correct aspect ratio for non-4:3 displays, so I'd assume that's a no.

Taunts: People who play street fighter really shoud try this one. There is a possibility to play online if you check out. http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21841
It looks like downloading the Japanese version is required for that...

Taunts: Chrisbales: I am pretty sure I runnned it widescreen.
Pretty sure? If you mean the game that GOG is selling here, unless you mean you're pretty sure it stretched in widescreen, you're likely mistaken. Looking at the settings, if you got it to run in widescreen you would know for sure.
Checked out a few vids on YouTube when this game was announced. Put it on my wishlist about thirty seconds later.

When I saw it got released today, I bought it about thirty seconds later.

Couple that, the awesome soundtrack that I am listening to as I type (so far, it was worth the price in and of itself), and everything else that has happened on this gorgeous Thursday, and this has been a very, very good day :-)

WBGhiro: this looks... japanese.

Delixe: Arc Systems Works stepped into the void left by SNK who were bought by Playmore. The King of Fighters still exists but Samurai Showdown/Spirits and Fatal Fury have been shelved. In a few short years Guilty Gear and it's sequel BlazBlue have become some of the most popular arcade fighting games in Japan.

I wonder how long it will be before we get a Capcom Vs Arc? A man can dream...
Are you sure you wanted to quote me in that post?

Smart man. I'm rockin' out to the same stuff here. If you like fighting games at all, you're gonna love this.

If you're not so familiar with fighting games, maybe it's not quite as friendly a place to start out as, say, Street Fighter II, but all the usual amenities of training mode are there. Just practice and use some of the resources available in the manual and the internet. This is a fighting game, so try to play with a friend if you can! :D
Man... I was really hoping this would be Guilty Gear X2 Accent Core Plus. Still for the low price with the soundtrack included, I might get it anyway since the current HD consoles don't have any Guilty Gear titles.

Oh i'm sorry, it's just i'm not familiar with any of these names so i thought you were talking to someone else.

the only point i tried to make is that only in a japanese game there could be crossdressing nuns and a other completely over the top characters, wich depending on your tastes could be good or bad.

Yeah, fear not, I love fighting games. I've been working my way through SF2, as well as having weekly on-line SSFIV sessions round a mate's house. Not quite having the funds to get a 360 etc myself, I've been itching for a 'new' fighting game to sink my teeth into.

And lo, GOG delivers :-)

And as a point of interest, I've just hit track 15. It has now become the best soundtrack I have \m/\>.</\m/
So what is everyone's favorite track?

I can't decide between Holy Orders (Ky's theme), Writhe in Pain (Millia's theme) and Pride and Glory (Kliff's theme)

Welp. Got it. Again. I just hope that unlocking the golden versions of the characters is less horrible than it was in GGXX for the PS2.
According to GameFAQs, there are only two other GG titles for PC. I would actually like it if Isuka would come out because there is no good US port of that title.

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is also on the PC. Unfortunately it's a GFWL game.
Well, this is the first time I've ever bought a GOG game at full price.

BE AFRAID.
Wonderful addition to the gog catalog, you should try to add more games like that one!

Two small problems though :
- no online mode
- player moves sheets would have been great as bonuses

Merchito: Happy for those it makes happy!
Though from my humble point of view, I remain clueless at how games looking like that could appeal to people above 8 years old. Apparently, that's just me who doesn't get it :)
Because some of us value gameplay over looks. The same reason why Nintendo games are so popular. Just because something is drawn in a colourful art style doesn't mean it's for children. Google 'Happy Tree Friends' if you dare.

Heh, that was my thought about XIII last week :)
