We’re completing the Gothic trilogy on GOG.com. Gothic 3 - the latest part of adventures is available now for only $9.99!

You are the Nameless Hero, the one who defeated the Avatar of the Sleeper god. The same hero who dealt with his four minions. Now it’s time to explore the kingdom of Myrtana. The Orcs have won the war and now humans are mere orc slaves. A conflict is waging between three distinct factions: the triumphant Orcs, the rebels loyal to the King Rhobar, and the hashishin - a guild of assassins with an unknown goal or origin. Your ultimate goal will require you to ally with one of the factions and help them achieve their objectives.

Character Progression is similar to the earlier installments of Gothic. Level up with experience, and quest completion, learn new skills and talents with points you get for every level up. The combat system was revisited, now it boasts more combo moves, optional full mouse controls, and your hero is able to use shields to improve his blocking abilities. Further, Rune-Magic has disappeared from the land, leaving only the magic of the ancients intact but scattered across Myrtana in form of ancient scrolls. Finding these scrolls is key to learning and using powerful magic to defeat your foes.

The most visible change from Gothic 2 is the new graphics engine, which looks stunning even now. The rich, vivid world of Myrtana is open for you to explore, but be aware of the dangerous beasts and monsters lurking deep inside the wilderness. You are free to go wherever you want, and lots of side-quests are available to lengthen your playthrough. Experience a great open-world RPG where your decisions can alter the course of a whole continent.

Check out the whole Gothic franchise on GOG and grab the newest installment for only $9.99.
Not my thing, but glad another series is complete and avaialble on GOG.

Paczyk: The version that GOG has released is 1.6, the last version that the developers have officially supported.

Some users have reported that they have a better experience with patch 1.74, which is a community-made fan patch. If you'd like to pick it up, you can get it here, but GOG can only officially support the version of the game our partners do.

Hope this helps ;)
Does that mean that the TELP Patch of Might and Magic IX is officially supported by Ubisoft? You know, since it's included with the game...

Just a little nitpicking :)
Gonna wishlist this one, despite of its reviews, as I did with Dragon Age 2.

Cleidophoros: And I probably don't need 1.73 to install 1.74 so I have been downloading 1GB for nothing for past 2 hours?
avatar
grviper: Well, 1.74 is 914MB so, unless they really added a ton of stuff since 1.73, it's most likely the only patch you need.
Something is wrong with the 1.74 download on cdprojekt ftp

Tsugirai: Huge letdown, I actually hate this series.

Is it possible for GOG to post a link to the community patch to users who buy the game or on the store page itself? This game is almost unplayable without the community patch.

Steam managed to do a proper release of Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods with the community patch 'Enhanced Version', so I don't see why you guys cannot support or at least direct users to the version of Gothic 3 that actually works. As it stands you are selling a broken product and not telling your customers how to fix it. Not what I would expect from GOG.

It wasn't Steam, but then JoWood that released the expansion with the patch officially applied. As far as I know, they have never done it to Gothic 3, though, and GOG can't support the community patch while it remains unofficial.

Than maybe this possibility should be explored. They obviously have channels open with the publisher, and Jowood has a history (with Forsaken Gods) of officially supporting the community that fixes their broken messes for free, so I dont see why they would be ok with supporting the patch for Gothic: Forsaken Gods and not Gothic 3.

Yes, I understand. Unfortunately, we can only count on the good will of JoWood and it's new owners, Nordic Games.

MichaelPalin: Version 1.74!? Heh!, I played the version 1.13. I remember some problems here and there, a lot of crashes (due to memory usage of >1.4 GB!) and a mission I had to reload because the NPC "forgot" about it. I may pick this up just to see how different it feels with the community patch. A good reason for openess in video games is that the community can help a lot with problematic games.
I had to wait many, many years to have a PC capable of playing this game on full (not ultra though :) details - yes, I've started this year :D

so I've never touched this game without having it updated with 1.74... and I must say this game is so unbelievably awesome, that it stands firmly next to her younger sisters I and II. and of course, no crashing, all quests functional, all the honey in it ready for you to lick...

forget about Skyrim, forget about Arcania, don't forget about Witcher 2, just go ahead and buy G3!

I think there was a question of who and for what JoWood was willing to pay cash money for. The FG enhanced version was supposedly a commissioned work, whereas the Gothic 3 CPT was a labor of love.
I would love to play this, but there's no way my computer will be able to run it.
Great addition, thank you ! Hopefully the reworked expansion gonna find its place here eventually.
Why does everyone hate the expansion? What's so bad about it? (I never played it.)
