We’re completing the Gothic trilogy on GOG.com. Gothic 3 - the latest part of adventures is available now for only $9.99!

You are the Nameless Hero, the one who defeated the Avatar of the Sleeper god. The same hero who dealt with his four minions. Now it’s time to explore the kingdom of Myrtana. The Orcs have won the war and now humans are mere orc slaves. A conflict is waging between three distinct factions: the triumphant Orcs, the rebels loyal to the King Rhobar, and the hashishin - a guild of assassins with an unknown goal or origin. Your ultimate goal will require you to ally with one of the factions and help them achieve their objectives.

Character Progression is similar to the earlier installments of Gothic. Level up with experience, and quest completion, learn new skills and talents with points you get for every level up. The combat system was revisited, now it boasts more combo moves, optional full mouse controls, and your hero is able to use shields to improve his blocking abilities. Further, Rune-Magic has disappeared from the land, leaving only the magic of the ancients intact but scattered across Myrtana in form of ancient scrolls. Finding these scrolls is key to learning and using powerful magic to defeat your foes.

The most visible change from Gothic 2 is the new graphics engine, which looks stunning even now. The rich, vivid world of Myrtana is open for you to explore, but be aware of the dangerous beasts and monsters lurking deep inside the wilderness. You are free to go wherever you want, and lots of side-quests are available to lengthen your playthrough. Experience a great open-world RPG where your decisions can alter the course of a whole continent.

Check out the whole Gothic franchise on GOG and grab the newest installment for only $9.99.
You're hosting the patch files on one of your CDproject servers? that's a cool gesture
This game is far better than Oblivion, but for the love of God - if you value your soul or your free time, install the fan patch before you play and NEVER EVER install the expansion.
http://www.g3cpt.eu/ lists 1.73 as the latest patch on news page and on top of the page but there is 1.74 version?

And I probably don't need 1.73 to install 1.74 so I have been downloading 1GB for nothing for past 2 hours?
Guess I won't have to buy that boxed copy after all. Thanks GOG.

This one really had the best soundtrack of the series.

"In my dreams, I think of you..."

Well, 1.74 is 914MB so, unless they really added a ton of stuff since 1.73, it's most likely the only patch you need.

Paczyk: The version that GOG has released is 1.6, the last version that the developers have officially supported.
Unfortunate, but understandable. As someone else said though, maybe email the patch crew to ask if you can host it here as an "extra"? That would really help out the community, as we could have a safe and fast source for the patch.

I have this game on disc but will re-buy it during the sale if it's 50% off.
Version 1.74!? Heh!, I played the version 1.13. I remember some problems here and there, a lot of crashes (due to memory usage of >1.4 GB!) and a mission I had to reload because the NPC "forgot" about it. I may pick this up just to see how different it feels with the community patch. A good reason for openess in video games is that the community can help a lot with problematic games.
After installing the 1.74 patch it's possible to expand the games with the Quest Pack (version 4.2) and the Content Mod (version 2.3)

Huge letdown, I actually hate this series.
All 1.7x patches were Full Patches. Any to 1.7x.
Community Patch Team didn't want any troubles with incemental patches 1.72-1.73 etc. (they have released 170-1.71 and that caused many problems and confused many players as they though 1.71 is also full "any to 1.71")

Full international 1.74 patch can be downloaded e.g. from CD Projekt's FTP: ftp://ftp4.cdprojekt.com/pub/pl/gothic_3/patch/gothic_3_community_patch_174_int.zip

This patch is International - can be applied on any G3 version.

haRT3r: This or Two Worlds? Need advice.
I liked Gothic 3 better...I highly recommend installing the community patch, though.

Two Worlds is an decent game, though. Both are flawed, but there are things to like if you look over the shortcomings of each game.

There is also 2.3 version of Content Mod (German and English only).
