We’re completing the Gothic trilogy on GOG.com. Gothic 3 - the latest part of adventures is available now for only $9.99!

You are the Nameless Hero, the one who defeated the Avatar of the Sleeper god. The same hero who dealt with his four minions. Now it’s time to explore the kingdom of Myrtana. The Orcs have won the war and now humans are mere orc slaves. A conflict is waging between three distinct factions: the triumphant Orcs, the rebels loyal to the King Rhobar, and the hashishin - a guild of assassins with an unknown goal or origin. Your ultimate goal will require you to ally with one of the factions and help them achieve their objectives.

Character Progression is similar to the earlier installments of Gothic. Level up with experience, and quest completion, learn new skills and talents with points you get for every level up. The combat system was revisited, now it boasts more combo moves, optional full mouse controls, and your hero is able to use shields to improve his blocking abilities. Further, Rune-Magic has disappeared from the land, leaving only the magic of the ancients intact but scattered across Myrtana in form of ancient scrolls. Finding these scrolls is key to learning and using powerful magic to defeat your foes.

The most visible change from Gothic 2 is the new graphics engine, which looks stunning even now. The rich, vivid world of Myrtana is open for you to explore, but be aware of the dangerous beasts and monsters lurking deep inside the wilderness. You are free to go wherever you want, and lots of side-quests are available to lengthen your playthrough. Experience a great open-world RPG where your decisions can alter the course of a whole continent.

Check out the whole Gothic franchise on GOG and grab the newest installment for only $9.99.
Without the community patch I wouldn't touch G3 with a ten foot pole. It makes ALL the difference. Too bad we didn't get Forsaken Gods though :| Have a localized G3, might pick this one just for the heck of it, to have one in english.

grviper: Holycrap the community patch is almost 1GB.

Titanium: Did you look at the changelog?
Why, is that even bigger?

Reading might take more time than that patch download.

How decent is G3 with the patch?
OMG love you to death.... Best Tuesday EVER!

You rock GOG.com! -- also get the community patch, its not worth playing without it.... makes the game 200% better!
The completionist (sp?) in me thanks you.

It's pretty long. The community really came together and did a fantastic job with the latest and last complete patch.
The thing that got me at the beginning was the RAM bug. If you had more than (I think) 1 GB of ram, the game froze and crashed pretty constantly. I couldn't play it and that was that. Since I paid full price for it the second it came out, I felt betrayed. You can't get over that feeling.
As far as I can tell, it's a decent game now, and I encourage anyone who liked the franchise up until now to try this one as well. But you must patch it, and patch it good.
Unbelievable. I knew that this would come on sale sometime, but I did not expect it now! Grabbing it next week. :-D

GOG (not GoG) delivers. :-D

GOG guys, could you also add the Community Patch in the extras?

ShogunDarius: does this come with its expansion?
The expansion is on Steam and it's usually on sale. Apparently it has been stabilised, but I haven't played it yet. It;s a stand-alone expansion, meaning you do not need to own G3 on Steam.

Because of several open issues and bugs in the last Gothic III vers., the Gothic-Fan-Community created the so called Fan-Patch, which I would highly recommend before beginning the game. Greetings from Germany!

.. but you need Steam to get it so that rules it out :P

That info should be put on Gothic forum also.

Aha, something helpful rather than the mandatory "THIS GAME IS A DISASTER". Never played it due to the constant negative reviews (still).

Maybe someone could post some helpful comments about the game with the community patch as I would like to give this one a try if the patch stands up to the hype . . . =)
"Gothic 3 suffered from a rocky start due to some bugs initially after launch. This version of the game, however, is patched and updated and offers a vastly smoother experience that makes it much easier for you to get drawn into the engaging world and its many plots. "

The above blurb from the Gothic 3 page makes it sound like GOG already incorporated the community patch (which would make sense). Anyone from Staff willing to confirm this?

Oh, sorry. We thought everyone knew about the [Google] gothic 3 community patch.

The patch fixed [see changelog on the same site]

It made the game playable without the constant frustration and crashing [your mileage may wary, depending what kind of computer you have/had]

LordCinnamon: was this the one everyone hated? Or was that the next one? I really, really liked Gothic 1+2, so even if this offers something somewhat worse, but still similar, I'm very interested in it :)

adamzs: Nope, it was the next one, titled Arcania. It was horrible.

Gothic 3 is a pretty amazing game with the same arcade RPG style its predecessors had and incredible amount of content. And I do mean it, this game has an open world map the size comparable to some of the largest sandbox RPG's.
Ah, thanks! Seems I was thinking of Arcania then. Guess I'll wait a bit to see if this one has the community patch installed/is compatible with it and then grab it.
With the community patch and a little tweaking (for better graphics) this is a fantastic game. It's far from being as hardcore as Gothic I and II were though. It's a bit more like the Elder Scrolls, take that as a compliment or a criticism, depending on your taste.
I loved the game, enormous world compared to Gothic I,II, Risen and especially Arcania (which is a pile of dung) so you can really lose yourself in this world.

Do note that you need a hefty pc to get the most out of the graphics. Even with the community patch it feels a bit unoptimised....

lol, I knew about the patch I just didn't buy the game due to the constant rants about how bad the game was on initial release.

What I would appreciate is some comments about the game play WITH the patch as that is how I will play it if it's not included in this release. The first three reviews posted here on GOG are telling me what I already knew . . . =)
