Gremmi: I've bought it regardless as the series is easily my favourite ever (GK2 is my number one game of all time), but can anyone confirm if it's the 640x480 resolution version or the 320x240 one?
The game was originally released as 320x240, but parts of it (the GUI, cutscenes and close-ups during conversations) were remastered at 640x480 for the CD release.

i just installed it and played it. it is in fact the remastered version (i.e. most of the game is the standard low resolution, but some items on the screen are high resolution, the menu on the top is high resolution and when dialogue pops up its the high resolution and lyp synch version)

I like that most of the items you can pick up are high res while the backgrounds are low res so they stand out. It makes it a little easier to pick out some of those obscure inventory items.
YYYYEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone needs to buy this game right now.
Excellent news! And I've never played the talkie version of this absolutely brilliant adventure. Can't help but hope for more Sierra (and possibly Infocom?) adventures.
bought
Oh BTW, I'm gifting a copy of Gabriel Knight to a random entrant on Twitter, go here and check the last few tweets for entry details!: http://twitter.com/phanboy_iv

StarEye: Some issues with the sound, otherwise it seems to run perfect. The speech has sudden bursts of distortion at times, frequent enough to notice easily.

Doubling the sample rate in the DOSbox config seems to have helped with that for me.
Man, does this look ugly. Brr...
It's one of the best adventures, but it's also real eyesore on a 24'' monitor. Pity.
I've played this one some years ago, and I must say, that it's one of the best adventure games I've ever played.
Can't wait for the sequels to be added (which I haven't played yet, so they are must gets) :)
Awesome! Good job on getting the deal for Activision's catalog!

I recommend using the upscaling filter "3x" in DosBox then, which, like the name says, triples the number of pixels. I guess this would help a bit against the blurriness? Well, if blurriness is the problem, at least. If just the pixels got suddenly a bit too big...well there are also some filters that smooth the pixels, but in my opinion they rarely make a game prettier... :-/

You should try running the install application and change the resolution to 320x240, then mess around with DOSbox's resolution and filters. By default, not much of the game is actually in hi-res, so with that option selected, the backgrounds are just blown up to twice their size without any filtering, which is uglier than it needs to be. And I think the default scaler is normal2x, so you'd be looking at an image made out of 4x4 pixel blocks.
one of the greatest adventures of all time!
i love the serie. i have boxed versions of all three of them.
instant buy for me anyway.
get this pearl people! ;)
Well alllright, another one of those classics i've always wanted to play. Please, please, for the love of god, get The Beast Within on here.
