DrIstvaan: Well... I hope the staff has given these two games of this week so that they're rid of their... khm... not-that-good titles in one go.

I'm also leaning towards GOG fulfilling contractual obligations and trying to do it in one go instead of spreading the non-goodness for too long.
I don't think tweaking EE3 to work on XP was that time consuming since it's a 2007 game.
I find it curious that for MOO's description they were pretty straightforward to tell you not to expect something similar to MOO 1 and 2 and it wasn't even that much of a sales pitch. For EE3, well... they actually have the price drop first on the slideshow, almost like not wanting too many people to know a new game is out. Sort of makes me feel like GOG knows these games aren't stellar.
Yes! That means finally Daikatana will be released now!! Awesome!! :D

jungletoad: The problem with releasing games that are not as universally loved is that it is not a good use of the gog staff time. They have to tweak games to make sure they work well and they have to do a lot of play testing too. Their time is better spent on better games.

But how do you rate this "universal love" aspect?
Some of those (really) old titles that people often jump for joy over here are the sorts that if you show them to a newer gamer they will stare at you and think you've got to be kidding. Different things inerest different people and I am more glad that GoG is prepared to release these "lesser" (in the view of some) games rather than just listen to the popular vote.
Why?
Because it means that there is an even chance for any game to get onto GoG (provided they can souce and get the proper persmissions and get the game to work) which means in the end a far larger and more complete libary of games to choose from.
Heck GoG are already releasing 104 games a year at least (based on 2 a week) and that excludes the fact that many are dual releases and surprise releases outside of the normal Tue/Thur release map. If 104 re-released games a year is not enough for you you're mad ;)

Blackdrazon: Speak for yourself, I still can't beat the original Command and Conquer :P.

DrIstvaan: I think he meant pathfinding (I've heard it's painfully bad in EE3).

Not just the pathfinding. But the simple fact that the units don't move in any direction close to what you tell them (even very small distances) and seem to think that firing randomly at nothing in particular compensates for their failure to attack the target they're ordered to. Simply put: if they follow orders it's a fluke more than anything.
Errrr... What? Empire Earth 3 in gog.com? But gog is a Good Old Games, and EE 3 isn't old and isn't good.

I've also noticed this, but I have a better approach to it: maybe they wanted to compensate with something nice for this game which they had to distribute.

Witcher is $18 from Amazon, patch 1.5 removes the DRM. Get the paper manual etc and no need to do the 9GB DL . . . =)

So what.
Another game without DRM. Someone may like it.
So if you don't express your feeling in a polite way.
GoGs week of failed sequels?

Uh-oh... let's hope there will be no "Failed sequels promo", ever...

GOG does most times tone down the announcement somewhat when they have reason to believe the game won't get a stellar response. Obviously they have to refrain from blatantly stating that a game is teh complete sucketh or the publishers might want to have a word with them about marketing.
It's something I really like - you'll be hard pressed to find anywhere else where that level of honesty about "okay, this game isn't all that, but anyway, here it is" is commonplace. In fact I don't think I've ever seen it before, apart from the odd store clerk who admits that yes, he's played this game, and yes, it's kinda bad.
I would really love to see monthly sales stats for the games here. For no other reason than it would be interesting to look at. Like, are people still buying stonekeep, or has everyone that wanted that already got it. Is anyone actually getting MOO3, etc. :-)
