Not so long ago we released a bunch of classic RPGs set in the Dungeons & Dragons world of Forgotten Realms. Today the spotlight falls upon a younger, but extremely popular setting - Eberron.

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/dungeons_dragons_dragonshard]Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard offers an interesting blend of genres. As the story progresses you will travel on the surface of Eberron and through the underground realm of Khyber. Here's where the genres get divided.
On the surface, Dragonshard is a real-time strategy with base building, amassing armies and everything else you would expect from an RTS game. Among the available unit types there are champions, lumbering Juggernauts, captains and regular soldiers. Only the captains can follow your chosen champion underground.
In Khyber, the realm beneath Eberron's surface, Dragonshard becomes a party-based dungeon crawler with role-playing elements, as befits a game bearing the Dungeons & Dragons name. Although it doesn't use the D&D ruleset, you'll have no doubt that you're playing a solid RPG.
Overall, a superbly designed game in an acclaimed setting, with an interesting story split into two campaigns that will keep you occupied for days. That's the Atari game that made you go to the underworld.
Personally, I'd love to see Battle Realms from the same developer on GoG. One of the greatest and most underrated RTS of all times, much more fitting for the title of a Good Old Game :)

AlexY: This looks like Warcraft III with a different UI. Or is it just me?
I had a similar impression. A lot of the Dragonshard screenshots remind me of the old beta version screenshots of Warcraft III.
I am interested in the dungeon crawler part, but not too keen on the "base building, amassing armies and everything else you would expect from an RTS game" part. So I think I'll pass it for now.
I actually went into the depths of the old, now slightly buried "game suggestion" area just this Sunday to suggest this title and ended up adding +1 to the then several dozen requests.

For some reason, I thought about this game this weekend and was thinking I'd like to get back into it and actually play it through, though I don't have my own copy. I figured, "what the hell, I'll add a suggestion. GOG seems to be on an Atari kick lately... maybe someday they'll bring this title along."

Needless to say, this morning was an awesome surprise.

Thanks GOG team... you made my week!
very nice always love the D&D games added to the wishlist......
Warning:This is NOT a RPG. It is a Real Time Strategy game using a D and D unverse as a background. The RPG elements are very minor, it is pretty much a strategy game. It's a pretty good, though not great, game. If you want a D and D RPG dungeon crawl, look elsewhere.

So kinda an updated BaM then.

I've watched a friend play this before, and it looked quite interesting. Maybe this will be my next payday's GoG purchase, depending on what kind of gaming mood I'm in come Monday.
When I can, I will pick this up just for the hell of it. I'll add it to my growing collection of D&D games I have. Hint and beg to the GoG team. Please get the SSI AD&D games on here. Pretty please?
I've been trying out a lot of RTS's lately and have really been considering this one. Happy to see it turn up on GoG.

I see reviews saying that the RTS aspect isn't all that great - is it as bad as Supreme Commander which was all about overpowering the enemy with spam that took a long time to produce?
I like D&D games and I never played this one, although I've always been curious about it. The fact that it doesn't use the D&D system made me scratch my head, but I'll put it on the wishlist. Thanks for adding it to the site.
Looked for this for long time. Hope to buy soon.
'What game made you go the underground' - looking at the font type of that last teaser I was hoping we were going to get something from Warhammer universe. Well, maybe some time in the future...

i second your opinion. GoG please bring over Battle Realms and Battle Realms: Winter of the Wolf... please
I never thought I'd say this, but I've found Dragonshard cheaper at retail. O.o
I would have prefered Demon Stone but have both already anyhow.
