Not so long ago we released a bunch of classic RPGs set in the Dungeons & Dragons world of Forgotten Realms. Today the spotlight falls upon a younger, but extremely popular setting - Eberron.

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/dungeons_dragons_dragonshard]Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard offers an interesting blend of genres. As the story progresses you will travel on the surface of Eberron and through the underground realm of Khyber. Here's where the genres get divided.
On the surface, Dragonshard is a real-time strategy with base building, amassing armies and everything else you would expect from an RTS game. Among the available unit types there are champions, lumbering Juggernauts, captains and regular soldiers. Only the captains can follow your chosen champion underground.
In Khyber, the realm beneath Eberron's surface, Dragonshard becomes a party-based dungeon crawler with role-playing elements, as befits a game bearing the Dungeons & Dragons name. Although it doesn't use the D&D ruleset, you'll have no doubt that you're playing a solid RPG.
Overall, a superbly designed game in an acclaimed setting, with an interesting story split into two campaigns that will keep you occupied for days. That's the Atari game that made you go to the underworld.
Nice game, shame that so much planned content never made the final release though.
Hm, I remember this game.
It was a long time ago, but I remember I thought it was absolutely terrible.
I might be wrong, and truth be told, I only played a demo, so hopefully I am.
Still, won't be getting this one. Aw, I was hoping for 'fear your past'.
Interesting. Not for me, though, I tested it at a friend's back when it was released and it's not my kind of game. Plus I've never been very fond of the Eberron setting (a pure matter of taste).

But I find it very positive that it comes on GOG with many languages supported! If only you could do that more often (I know it has to do with different countries/different publishers, don't worry).
Remember this one, it was plagued with the sound blaster problem. Anybody who does buy it, if you have a sound blaster card you may have to change your sound settings to Basic Acceleration. GOG may have fixed it, but just in case. Nice release though, hopefully we will see the SSI AD&D games here too.
Oh, I feel like I've been stabbed through the heart with a Dragonshard here...

When I saw the teaser ad "What game made you go to the underground?", I was really happy. If you're as old as me, the only answer to that question was "Ultima Underworld! About bloody time too!". Yes, I know it was supposed to be an Atari game and Ultima Underworld is not, but still... There really was no other answer to that question.

A pity I bought the game just months ago. I haven't had time to play it yet though.
i played the demo of this a while ago honestly i thought it was quite awful.
Nice RTS. Looked good, played well, was worth the purchase a few years ago. But sadly overlooked and underrated. A real Underdog.

Especially i liked the orginal installer, which will probably will be absent from the GOG version. Not some boring WISE System installer UI, but a very complex and nifty sounding Steampunk thingamajig with lots of things to look at while waiing for the game to install. Like the old installer for Command & Conquer 1 back in the days.

I don't remember much right now, but it felt like a bad copy of Spellforce (i didn't like spellforce much either, but thought it's okay overall), i think this RPG/RTS stuff isn't really my cup of tea after all so my opinion may be a bit biased.

i also never understood why they bothered getting a D&D license and didn't do almost anything with it.

Nice little game, though I already own it. I'm not that much into the RTS genre, but this game is one of the very few RTS games that I enjoy. The two pretty different gameplays (large army/small party) create a welcome change of pace through the game.
