thornton_s: Is this a difficult game ? or do you just need a lot of patience ?

It's tough, no doubt about it. Even to the point where CTRL+L is your most frequently used key combination :), because no - and I mean it - NO mistakes are tolerated. In other words: once they'll see you, you're usually f*cked :).
Still, the game is very, very playable and addictive. Surprisingly, this extreme difficulty doesn't ruin the gameplay.
I just had to buy this, even though I've got the retail version knocking around somewhere.
It's worth the price just for being able to play it without CDs :P
Awesome gameplay : frustrating at times, but it's got just that right mix of strategy, humour and playability. Graphics are very good, and multiple resolutions supported. Videos get "blocky" at larger resolutions, but still very watchable, and provide a great deal of information about the area, and time-zone the missions are based in.
NOw, time to download that manual, and reread what the hotkeys are!!
Oh, I heard about this one. Not my priority, but hey, you never know. ;)

Navagon: It is a difficult game and no mistake. Patience is required. However, cunning use of the cigarettes of DEATH can make things a whole lot easier as no Nazi can resist the lure of free fags.

I always abuse Green Beret's decoy and his ability to hide in sand/snow... :D
Hardest game in Commandos series but for me it is the best. Thanks GOG.com.

In the first game I used the Green Beret 90% of the time. He was by far the best for sneak attacks. Which is exactly what you need to use to get you through the game.
Already got it but the game is so f*cking good I'll probably buy it again for the lulz.
Got it already at home, but it's unplayable because everyone moves too fast. So... is that fixed? Can I play this version with normal speed under Vista 64?
Thanks for all the info, it's on my wishlist for the moment but i think i will buy it shortly.

lowyhong: Nice. Not insta-buy for me, but definitely on my wishlist.

Ditto. I have the CD version, and I've played it to death already. :-)

Oh man, I burned myself with Steam trying to play this game at normal speed... I'm so glad I can finally play it!!!! Thanks GOG!!!! One of my favorite games to spend hours losing in.

It's fairly simple. Downloading and executing small app which deliberately consumes CPU time (such as Cpugrab) does the trick. Obviously, it also has a side effect: increased energy consumption (what affects laptop users etc.).
