Whether you're a trigger-happy arcade maniac or a well-trained armchair pilot, [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/apache_longbow]Apache Longbow is the game for you for, and it’s only $5.99 on GOG.com

Apache is a combat flight simulator of the American AH-64D Apache Longbow, one of the deadliest flying machines to ever grace the skies. What’s really great about Apache is that it’s so easy to fly (in game, that is, not in real life ;) if you select “arcade mode” and so realistically complex if you decide to select “simulation mode”; the game offers both types of gamers a whoop-whoop-whooping joyride. The game offers only one copter to pilot but your enemies aren’t so limited: Russian tanks, anti-aircraft systems, missiles, Mi-24 Hind helicopters, AH-1 Super Cobra helicopters, MiG-29 fighters and more. Detailed training missions will teach you everything you need to know before your Apache is sent to Korea, Yemen, or Cyprus for a whole lotta flying!

Apache Longbow was a successful simulation because it combined terrific flight model with simple and great gameplay. Explosions or ground models might not look impressive to modern eyes, but the game has incredible gameplay and countless options and missions. You simply don’t get better copters than Apache Longbow for $5.99 on GOG.com. Pick it up today!
A batch of games I never seen before the last two weeks. I understand they must be great and all, I'm just saying.
OK, I'm an old guy that was big into simulations and such when flight sims were in their heyday.. and Longbow was high on my list at one time. This was a game ahead of its time and looking at it now its hard to beleive for many of you that anyone could actually like this, but believe me this game was very popular. Then when Longbow 2 came out on 3Dfx (some of you may remember 3Dfx when it was the video card to have for real 3D) the game was simply unbelivable... anyways, this game is worth getting to get a taste of helo flight sims, and lets only hope that GOG sees fit to release Longbow 2... there are many of us out here that will be really excited to see that as we still play it today, but it's iffy at best and a solid fixed LB2 would be widely welcomed.....
And to think that there was once a day on these forums where people used to be happy when GOG released a new game...
Looks like a good release to me. I'm betting that a large amout of the people who complain about it haven't tried or even heard about it before. More like this, please.
When I first saw the whup whup whup whup whup, I thought that GOG had started writing Dubstep.
I love old flight sims and sparse polygonal graphics. Probably pick it up next month or so.
As the forum replies seem to work akward:

- Apache Longbow was developed by Digital Integration, the people who also made Hind. Interactive Magic was the distributor.

- Yes, I also liked Comanche 1 back then, but it grew old pretty fast. Now, I can't say anything against Tachyon, not only the BEST game Novalogic ever developed, but one of the best space sim/arcade games ever.

- We, back then, didn't say "Longbow 2 is better! Booh Apache Longbow!". This is something new and absurd for me. We used to love them BOTH. The spirit was having some simulators that were always in your hard disc: Falcon 3.0, Gunship 2000, Apache Longbow, Jane's Longbow 2, Tornado, Their Finest Hour: Battle Of Britain, Super EF 2000 later... because graphics didn't matter so much as the experience, and each one had a different one.

- This is a much better release than the half baked and cheap strategy games GOG has been offering, IMHO.
What you said Risingson.... HUA!
Meh. Now if this was Gunship by Microprose, I would be on it like white on rice. THAT was a good Apache sim.
I hope to see Gunship 2000 and LHX released here someday. LHX, I count on it eventually (with the approval of the "GOG-I-hate-flightsims" community, of course :p) as it was developed by EA, but not so sure about Gunship 2000. Is the Microprose stuff in one of those legal hell situations?

I don't know, but +1 to LHX, one of the most fun simulators ever. And with a wonderful intro tune!
