Whether you're a trigger-happy arcade maniac or a well-trained armchair pilot, [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/apache_longbow]Apache Longbow is the game for you for, and it’s only $5.99 on GOG.com

Apache is a combat flight simulator of the American AH-64D Apache Longbow, one of the deadliest flying machines to ever grace the skies. What’s really great about Apache is that it’s so easy to fly (in game, that is, not in real life ;) if you select “arcade mode” and so realistically complex if you decide to select “simulation mode”; the game offers both types of gamers a whoop-whoop-whooping joyride. The game offers only one copter to pilot but your enemies aren’t so limited: Russian tanks, anti-aircraft systems, missiles, Mi-24 Hind helicopters, AH-1 Super Cobra helicopters, MiG-29 fighters and more. Detailed training missions will teach you everything you need to know before your Apache is sent to Korea, Yemen, or Cyprus for a whole lotta flying!

Apache Longbow was a successful simulation because it combined terrific flight model with simple and great gameplay. Explosions or ground models might not look impressive to modern eyes, but the game has incredible gameplay and countless options and missions. You simply don’t get better copters than Apache Longbow for $5.99 on GOG.com. Pick it up today!
meh ... please get us the novalogic simulators such as f-16 , f-22 , mig-29 and of course the delta force series
People, I don't understand your reaction: this is one of the best helicopter simulators done, ever. Even the texture-less graphics are an advantage for me. It's made by the seminal Digital Integration people - who really knew how to make simulators - and it is one of the few ones that really makes you feel like you are just one helicopter doing your thing during a huge war surrounding you. I recommend it.

Novalogic = extremely boring IMHO. People who tried to make simulators accesible, and managed to make them just dull.

Great addition, but not for me. I hope others enjoy.
Is this game any good?
Dissappointing news for those not into 17 year old dos helecopter flight sims, although good news for those who are.

I wonder what the ratio is.

the difference between i magic and novalogic lies there , novalogic simulators are at least noob friendly ,simple controls :P at least you can take of and land without problems, i wonder how many people will actually play this after buying
btw i magic is right ? correct? i remember m1a2 , hind made by them.

any idea why the windows version was not included? as i recall the disc used to have them both bundled.

Novalogic games made by their original Voxel space engine are amazing.
After Delta Force 2 and Comanche 3,they lost soul and games tarnished.

I don't think that more hardcore simulator invariably mean more better one.
Hardcore simulation is dull for me,and probably for many people, too.
Anyway,I'm welcome to various good simulator come in GOG.

piduca: At first, sorry for my bad English.

If I'm not wrong, GOG means "Good Old Games"... But it seems that Gog team is not caring too much about the first "G" at all. It is becoming little and little each last days, and by now it needs to be written with lowercase...
Of course that there are people who like this thing; and of course I will be "burned" by some fans for what I will write... But something is telling me that, sooner than you can imagine, this game will be offered for free - and, even then, it will be a waste of bandwidth.
Come on, gOG, lets uppercase the first "G" before it vanishes!
You are entitled to your own opinion of course, but by 1995 standards this game was very good. Maybe not revolutionary, but it's definitely a "case of uppercase" ;)

Oh, and technically, GOG isn't Good Old Games anymore ;) It's just GOG.com.

We're proud to present GOG.com, the site where it's all about Good Old Games and the people that play them.
So, what now, Master Yoda?

svmariscal: I have a suggestion: prior to any release, GOG should conduct a survey and ask all users how they feel about game "X". If there is any response with "it sucks!" or even "meh...", forget about it. That way we ensure no GOG user will ever have hurt feelings for a less-than-stellar release.
If by that you mean that there will never be another game released again, I agree...
The game isn't my cup of tea either, but I'm sure there will be people interested in it, and for them it's great that it is available again.

I don't really understand people complaining about new games if the last couple of releases didn't interest them ... we had some extremely popular releases lately (Deus Ex, Thief), there's nothing wrong with having some niche-in-a-niche releases now. But I guess the complaints also show how passionate many people here are about GOG and its products, which isn't a bad thing for GOG. ;)

Hell yeah

Niche titles that I never heard about that arrive here on GOG are my favourites, it's like some sort of special surprise for me

Anyway, yes, I agree, there should be space for lesser known titles as well

As long as GOG doesn't allow shit like Dragon Age 2 in it's game library - Everything should be fine

actually, Apache Longbow is considered a good or very good game by those into simulators.

i've always preferred Jane's and NovaLogic games, though.

DA2 is a hell of a lot better than a fairly large number of games already on GOG...

It's a good start, but it's not enough. You will still get people with hurt feelings because of "good" games that cost too much [a.k.a. as the "WTF-9.99-FOR-THIS-???" syndrome]. I suggest we improve upon your suggestion and have GOG send $9.99 to every registered user before every new release so that users would not have to spend their own hard-earned money on GOG.

But then people who haven't even heard of GOG might get hurt too. Better send them $9.99 too, just in case. I am sure this will make GOG a huge success.

Funny to read that flight sims are considered niche products. Maybe now, but they were extremely popular back in the 90's. Apache and Hind were among the best of the genre, they may look primitive by today's standards (and well, I concour) but as for playability goes I don't think they have ever been surpassed.

I think I remember they were kind of buggy though...
