Btw, I just found on Mobygames that Obscure is now published by MC2 Microids; Maybe this is why GOG has to pull the game back from their catalogue: They have to do this temporarily (hopefully) while renegotiating the distribution rights with the new publisher (Microids).

chautemoc: Excellent detective work sirs.
I am particularly looking forward to Post Mortem and Still Life.

I played both Syberia games. The first one deserves a B because it was a lot of fun and the story, while mostly light-hearted, was very well-done. Syberia II falls short of the original because while gameplay was equal to the original, the finale was not at all satisfying.
I know very little about Post-Mortem, but I've been looking at Still-Life for a little while.
i REALLY want heart of darkness on here. something about me never being able to play it makes me really sad cause i was so interested in it.
somehow i posted this before but it disappeared??

Heart of Darkness? Yeah, it would be nice, it's an experience worth of Eric Chai's name :-)

I havent heard anything good about Post mortem but Still-Life is ok, except some very stupid puzzels.
After Flashback, how about the Alone and the Dark series? I mean the originals, not the current ones. Oh and please please please bring us Veil of Darkness. It was awsome and many didn't get to play it or even know it existed. It is definately a classic!

summitus: Another good addition to GOG , but yet again way way to expensive. :(

RafaelLopez: Tseh. I might not want to pay the 10 bucks even for a great game, but it makes me chuckle to see a game cheaper than lunch called "expensive". All games are priced $6 or $10 here dude. It's way way cheaper than games you'd buy on shelves these days.
avatar
StarEye: You should try OnEscapee if you like Another World... it's free on the official website, or if you want to check out a video of the original Amiga version (they're basically the same), I found a youtube playthrough.

The official website is here: http://onescapee.invictus.hu/

Nice tip, thanks for that.

Hey " Dude " as you put it, I said its too expensive and it is .. so deal with it " Dude" lol

I dont have anger issues , I just hate sycophantic idiots ..
$9.99 is way way too expensive. These games are good and should attract interest but flicking through the catalogue I dont see a lot of value with titles costing more tha $3 or $4.
To be fair maybe my opinion is simply reflecting the iPhone App era with $2.99, $1.99, or free apps & games.
Maybe my opinion is swayed by the saturation of games out there and the ample bargain bins at EB, Game, JB etc full of packaged PC games for well under a $9.95 (many titles no more than 4 years old).
Maybe my opinion is swayed by the fact that many of these games are in the abandonware space and DosBox is a free download.
Or maybe its the world of eBay where many sell the original at a lower cost.
Bottom line, I like many, really appreciate the hard work you guys/gals do in freshening the games up and prepackaging to run smoothly on modern hardware. Plus the great support. But the titles look expensive to me (and I suspect a lot of other potential consumers).

1) These games are not tied to a closed system like the Iphone. DRM Free, can play them on anything that runs Windows operating systems.
2) If these games were abandoned, they wouldn't be sold on here. They have to actually be "abandoned" to be abandonware...
3) yeah ebay does sale alot of them, some at lower cost. But they aren't guaranteed to work on your modern PC. It can be a *real* hassle getitng a dos or windows 95/98 game to work on a vista or windows 7 machine. Yes Doxbox does help, but these guys know what they are doing.
4) I don't understand the thinking that any game on this site is expensive. Books are almost 10 dollars now, and that is just for paperback. Movies..sheez 8 to 10 bucks to see it. Going out to eat? Good luck spending less then 10..even at a fast food place.
Yeah I respect your (and anyone elses) opinion that this game or any other are to expensive, but I have to be honest. I think you are wrong.
One thing I love about gog.com is it has helped me move away from using abandonware sites. Games I never thought would be rereleased are being released..and that is awesome.
Most of these games are extremely good values, especially considering all the extras they throw in with them. I mean... what other game seller does that for 10 dollars and under?

Beautiful, cheap but self-conscious, can't be "patronized". Don't waste your time dude, no "4 or 5 bucks" games here. Every penny surely counts, just give in and buy lunch instead.

An iPhone game for $3, I can relate to that, free is great too, but if you're buying a *PC* game, you won't get it for less than $10 anywhere else, only on GOG and similar services. It doesn't compare either, since I can't play Fallout or Another World on iPhone. They don't sell iPhone software here either. If you were looking for iPhone software, the price should be "cheaper", but you should go to the Apple store. If you want Another World on the PC nowadays, the price is $10 and the place is here. Don't like Another World? That's a different story.

eBay is great to find the original box, complete with a physical manual. The price is always higher for that. If they're selling for like 5 bucks, it's probably just a CD in jewel-case, so you might be better off buying online and being able to download and install anywhere, with site support, working on modern machines, always up-to-date.
People should just do the math.

I always wanted to get my hands on this 15th anniv. edition. Now will do, thanks to GOG.
Flashback, I want you available here. :)

Microids IS on GOG, that's why we got Obscure in the first place. All the games marked as published by Anuman are Microids games (and were AFAIK originally marked as Microids). Here are the existing Microids-games on GOG:
http://www.gog.com/en/search/sort/publisher/Anuman
http://www.gog.com/en/search/sort/publisher/Microids
Why they've never released any adventures here is anyone's guess, but I think it has to do with their own, overpriced adventure game shop.

Ooh, silly me. Thanks. :)
I agree it's probably a pricing issue which is unfortunate. But there are those to look forward to when the price eventually drops.
