The third and final game in our catalogue hailing from the brilliant mind of Benoît Sokal, Amerzone will take you on a journey you won't be able to forget for a long while, with a deep story lying underneath.
[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/amerzone_the_explorer_legacy]Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy is a first-person adventure game in which you explore a wondrous, wild land in central America. The land was long ago visited by Monsieur Alexandre Valembois, a then-young explorer, though nobody ever believed him nor his journals. You take the role of a young reporter, on your way to the old man's home, looking for a good story about his past adventures. Little did you know that you will soon embark on a journey to the now closed-off world of Amerzone and get a chance to explore it yourself. It's worth noting that the game's visuals, highly praised when it was released, still look quite impressive, even after eleven years.
Early release? That's unusual....but at least now we can expect games from a certain publisher this Thursday. >_>
Well I can't say I wasn't expecting this one. :P But it's good to see it here all the same.
i never really heard of this game before. but from what i can see from the youtube videos and adventuregamers.com reviews im just going to go out on a limb and buy this. i feel like playing a myst style adventure game right now
Not sure about the game so maybe someone could say if it really is worth $9.99 or not.
Supposedly one of the best adventure games of its time and Benoit Sokal's best game. I've not played it yet, but I will. It's hailed as one of the greats.
Not really familiar with it. I tried looking for info a good year or two back when looking up Sokal's other games, but didn't find much.
Trying to hold back a little on purchasing as I've not gotten anywhere with what I have, but I do enjoy the point'n'click/adventure genres enough I'll likely grab it sometime.

Maybe. It's a charming game and there are some very nice touches, but it's not a genuine classic (IMO) and it's also quite short.
If you loved the Syberia games, you'll probably like it a lot. It has a very similar kind of atmosphere and even though it's a first person game the puzzles are generally pretty similar as well.
Looking at the general price level here at GOG, I think it would have been better off with a $5.99 price point. Both for the consumers and for GOG/Anuman.

Thanks for the answer, sounds like a wait until 50% off sale.
Bonus: Maintheme
....what, that's it?

I would imagine that means there's only one track and it's the title 'theme tune' track. But I might be wrong.
Oh my!
I remember that this game was one of my first one when i was a kid. And I also remember when i was playing it with my parents and the rest of family. Great times!
Thanks GOG!
Never heard of this one before, but looks pretty cool.
Going on the wishlist -- but $10 is a bit steep.
I don't recommend this game. The puzzles are mostly solved by trying everything on everything because it's not clear how you're interacting with things. The characters all have incomprehensible dialog. It's short.
On the plus side, most of it is beautiful.
Here are two reviews of the game:

I feel kind of guilty, but that was the main reason I was happy about this release >_>
Though I actually do intend to buy these someday, I got positively addicted to adventures because of GOG.
