It's here! An absolute legend, the grandfather of all survival horrors, and based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft - Alone in the Dark - bundled together with the rest of the original trilogy!

Alone in the Dark is a survival horror game released back in 1992, and one of the first games to use 3D models over prerendered backgrounds. This may not sound too fancy now, but when you see the vivid facial expressions on characters using almost two decades-old technology, you'll see that this game is simply a work of art. But there's a lot more to it than that.
Overall, the game's presentation is simply amazing, and this goes for the entire trilogy as well. Each gripping story comes accompanied by top-notch voice acting, fantastic mood-setting music and an immersive cinematic atmosphere. After playing this release, you'll wish all games were this well-designed.
And, finally, the horror part presents the perfect mix of bone-chilling suspense and sudden, heart-pounding terror.
So that's three legendary games for a mere $5.99. What are you waiting for? Are you scared or something?
I knew it was Alone in the Dark ! ;)
I still have my copy of this from when it was first released. I'm going to buy the GOG version, however, not only for the additional games, but also to save myself the headache of running the original via DOSbox or D-Fend Reloaded and hoping I can slow it down enough to be playable.
I may be interested in this (I already have all 3 on CD (the original French Version)), but I have a few questions.

- Are those the CD versions, I made ISOs of my original CDs and they weight around 600 MB each (probably due to the CD tracks). Yet it weights only around 300 MBs for all three.
- How's the English voice acting? The French voice acting was excellent (and provided by professionals like Marc Alfos and Benoît Allemane).
You have to download the sequels via the Bonus Content menu on your game page. You can't even use the GOG Downloader on the sequels.

GOG, wouldn't a multi-game installer like the Police Quest one have been more convenient?
I have a big issue with Alone In The Dark 2 from "Bestseller Games" CD where I can't get into the labyrinth like 99 percent of the time at the very beginning of the game. You are supposed to move a statue but it doesn't move no matter how you try. The issue did not exist at pure DOS and I think I didn't try it with DOSBox (or maybe I did, I remember that bug being not there once).

Is this fixed in the GOG release?

ISO's don't contain audio.

I don't know about this AITD release but on some GOG releases they've used OGG for some reason (I guess to cut down on size) :(

maul_inc: Awesome! I bought it the moment I saw it released today.

Actually, I still have the Trilogy on my shelf complete with original manuals/Handouts and posters :-)

EDIT: I just realized, that the GOG version "only" comes with the Handouts for AITD3 :(

Oh well, I'm happy that I still have all of them. Each game, came with a Newspaper of recent events that tied into what would happen in-game, but they are not necessary for understanding the game, but they sure are nice ;-)

cheeseslice73: If you can scan those other handouts, GOG might be able to make them available to all...
I will see what I can do about that. On my school there is a pretty expensive scanner, so I'm gonna give that a shot. But it won't happen until the end of April...Easter holiday's is coming up tomorrow so... :)

not at the top of my list, but with the addition of the whole trilogy I'm for sure going to add it to my wishlist
That is an excellent news ! I was hoping for a release of the first one and thought that I would wait for a sale of the three when they would be out. Instead of this GoG sells the whole trilogy for 5.99$, great !

As they are partly 3D (among the first game to include 3D), they didn't age very well but the first game alone is well worth that price as it is a true gem and the very first survival horror.

I suppose so because I played alone 2 about week ago in dosbox and it worked fine. Statue moved and all. I have disk version of the game which I bought when it was released originally.

So, it works in DosBox.

Also... Cthulhu f'htagn!

Thanks! Would have bought it anyway sooner or later. ;-)
Well done GOG, finally a TRUE classic, a good and OLD PC game :-P
I'm actually interested in this one. As a fan of the clunky old Resident Evil games, I woudn't mind seeing how that style of game design got its start.

Even clunkier.

I was kind of expecting that. Nonetheless, once it goes on sale or something I'll check it out, if only for novelty's sake.
