Pheace: to be fair, if I remember reading right, the X-com games on Steam are simply dos-boxed and you can simply move them outof the folder anywhere and they'll still work, so they're DRM-free already I believe.

I guess AOE3 appearing on Steam might be a slight notch towards Microsoft maybe spreading beyond it's borders in more areas than one, though I have a hard time imagining it'd be them (would be great though)

Foxhack: Yeah. They were also region locked for me for close to three years.

Judging by GOG's latest tweet, I sense Team17 coming. :P

BRING ON LEISURE SUIT LARRY BOX OFFICE BUST, YEEHAW
Bah, Magna Cum Laude is better by yards. XD

Also I still don't think this can be solved with logic, thus IMO it is anything but Team 17. :)

hedwards: They already have Firaxis or at least whomever owns them, we already have Alpha Centauri which was a Firaxis game.
avatar
adambiser: I should have specified the publisher, not the developer.

Alpha Centauri is published by EA, Civilization III by Infogrames (now Atari), and Civ4 is published by 2K. Yes, the first two are on GOG. Firaxis is a subsidiary of 2K now, at least if wikipedia is right and I understand it correctly, and I don't think they are on GOG.
I think it's even more confusing than that. Intellectual property frequently changes with publishing arrangements. Even though Infogrames published Civ III, I would imagine that the current publishing rights to Civ III are actually held by the current publisher of the series, 2K.

I was just basing off of wikipedia which said Infogrames, which became Atari.
You're right, IP can stay with the developer, but not always, as seems to be the case with SMAC being published by EA instead of 2K. You do seem to be right about Civ 3 because GamersGate lists the publisher as 2K.
I had Worms 3D on XBox, it was pretty good and a little different to the rest, mainly because it had this whole 'Depth' dimension added, it made it harder but it didn't feel quite as much like flogging a dead horse as the others...

Fantastic: I think GOG will add the Worms games. They are "hot seat" games, and Team17 would be a new publisher. Also, both at this tweet, both on their facebook page, they say this new release will "worm up" a January day, and not "warm up". (I've read this "spelling mistake" from some facebook-users' comments.)
So it's 100% Team 17. I hope for Worms World Party pretty damn much.

It's actually 99% Team17 max.....it would only be 100% if someone knew for certain it was Team17. ;)
I wish, somebody demade Worms into Spectrum or C64 format and called it Tapeworms...
But i'm afraid they will start with Worms Armageddon. And I don't really get why, cause World Party is the same plus more.

Hesusio: Their Facebook announcement said the classic strategy series in question is turn-based, so I'm guessing either Firaxis (Civilisation) or Microprose (X-Com).
avatar
yyahoo: Microprose content is owned by Atari, who is already on GOG. Firaxis is a dev not a publisher. 2K Games publishes the Civ series.
X-Com is owned my Take-Two.
Now, we just need to track down all of those Worms voicebanks from years past... My fave was Spaceballs.

2K Games is publishing the newest XCOM game, so I asume they hold rights to older games too?
