It must be either Microsoft (Age of Empires) or 2K (Civ and X-Com). EA and Ubisoft are already on GOG, so their back catalogue (SSI, Westwood etc.) is out of the question.

Well this sure is great news indeed.
I hope that it's going to be a big one (though I doubt it unfortunately).
Redwood - Command & Conquer?

Foxhack: It could be XCom, but 2K Games own the rights to the franchise and they're notoriously anti-DRM free gaming. And they region lock their games all over.
to be fair, if I remember reading right, the X-com games on Steam are simply dos-boxed and you can simply move them outof the folder anywhere and they'll still work, so they're DRM-free already I believe.

I guess AOE3 appearing on Steam might be a slight notch towards Microsoft maybe spreading beyond it's borders in more areas than one, though I have a hard time imagining it'd be them (would be great though)

TimeGate Studios for the Kohan games?
Team 17 for Worms?
I'm guessing 2K and either X-com or Civilization
My guess is: Stardock with Galactic Civilization. It's turn based, strategy anc classic (in my eyes). Also Stardock now is free from Impulse. And it would be a surprise.

2K and Civilization? Too big to be a surprise / on short notice / ... publisher, I think.
Action-packed turn-based? Wurmz... Or Archon.

tburger: GOG - I don't use social media services (such as Twitter or Facebook) relying only on gog.com. Am I lesser customer? I understand that GOG passes such messages via social channels but they should be also available via webpage.
Well, you and I are part of a shrinking minority that don't use those social media services.

I think at some point, probably 80% to 90% of the population will use them and having some sort of presence on the social media scene will be a must to reach a lot of people quickly.

I know I would never user Facebook for myself (I prefer satisfying my online social needs with forums such as this one), but I will certainly open an official Facebook page once my game is out and fully ready for consumption.

I don't think GOG is being "snobbish" by posting on social media first, it is just being up to date with the times.

Facebook goes one further and states that the publisher created/released an "action packed turn based strategy" series.

Now, this takes out Microsoft straight away as Age of Empires and their other strategies are all real time. Westwood weren't a publisher, but a developer, so it's not going to be any of the Command & Conquer games (plus EA aren't a new publisher here).

There's obviously 2K as a publisher due to them owning the rights to X-COM, and it'd certainly make sense.

I was going to say Microprose (one of the first publishers of X-COM), but they're on here with a single game (Dragonsphere) so probably won't count as a new publisher.
My bet: Worms

Worms World Party would be great, too... Ehh, choices, choices...
Indeed. That narrows it down to either Worms or X-Com.

ne_zavarj: Command & Conquer is freeware
But Red Alert 2 is not.

btw. C&C series are property of EA, so it's a miss shot anyway.
