GOG - I don't use social media services (such as Twitter or Facebook) relying only on gog.com. Am I lesser customer? I understand that GOG passes such messages via social channels but they should be also available via webpage.

Yeah. You didn't see facebook/twitter message that was anyway posted by community members 5 seconds later. OH THE HORROR

yyahoo: A name does not a good product make. I kinda feel like Yoda after that statement...

Navagon: Even though it's quite damning in it's own way, I don't think it encompasses the full truth of the matter. Don't forget that when a game goes gold only very few key people get to keep thier jobs. That probably explains why Obsidian's games have been all over the place, quality-wise. Yet have had consistently good writing.

yyahoo: IGG may own the Microprose *name* but probably not much more than that.
avatar
Navagon: That's between IGG and Atari, apparently. So I suppose that any Microprose games that don't wind up on GOG via Atari eventually were in fact owned by IGG.

But with GOG's lethargic release schedule and the huge number of games they could, but haven't released I think that's no real way to know for sure.
Or 2K or Microsoft or any number of publishers. I'm still not convinced IGG owns any publishing rights to any games. My personal opinion is that Microprose IP was sectioned and sold off to varying groups until only the name remained, kinda like what happened to 3D0, except no one wants to own only the name 3D0.

Microprose, or should that be 'Microprose', are not a possibility. Not because IGG wouldn't use the name. But because we haven't seen or heard anything of either company name in some considerable time (in IGG's case that considerable time is best summarised as 'ever'). I don't think that they'd use their appearance on GOG to announce their resurrection to the world.

In any case, as for creators of turn based strategy games, yes Take Two are a possibility. But I'm surprised that nobody's considered Paradox as another possibility. They two have a few successful turn based games in their catalogue and share a lot of GOG's principals.

Does that include principal Skinner?

Well, yeah, that was my point re Microprose the entire time...

The only reason anyone's talking TBS is because of GOG's hints as to its next publisher and the cat is essentially out of the bag with all of the "worm" hints. It's Team17.

How do you know about these 5 secs? :o Anyway, it should be officially marked by blue ball to be more visible, not green. I do not have time to pay a long visit on forum everyday instead of few minutes only. ;)

I know. I wasn't saying it was likely that they were going to show up on GOG. Just that I wouldn't be surprised if yet another classic name was taken by a publisher for the credibility that goes with it.

As for the worm hints, missed those. The lack of twiiter or facebook accounts is a problem given that GOG's PR seems to have migrated over to them entirely now.

Maybe because FB has timestamps working.

That and, you know, it's more popular.

I hear you. I didn't catch the hints from visiting Facebook or Twitter though, only from reading this thread...

This is one of my beefs with the new PR person, everything migrated. Social media doesn't replace the old avenues of communications. It's suppose to enhance them.
No interest in RTS games to hopefully it is turn-based. 2K for X-Com and Civ would fit the bill nicely, though I own all those already anyway.
It's Team 17

That's for sure

I still say it's something bigger, if only because I want it to be. I'd love if it were 2K or MS myself, for various reasons. XD
If they stated that it would be action based, then I'll have to agree with the people who say that it is likely to be Team 17 and worms.
