GameRager: 1. It's only confusing if you don't know how to properly skim an article/book/block of text/etc.
2. If a thread has a cool sounding yet confusing name but is named as something you may like then enter...if not then don't. :\
3. Why? It's not like there's dozens of spam ad threads from Asia on the page 1 every day. What you may consider spam some may consider worthwhile. Also in general anything other than blatant offsite adverts can be considered ontopic and not spam.
4. Again it's not spam to everyone.
hedwards: 1. It's obnoxious having to wade through several pages of crap, whether or not one knows how to skim.
2. It gets really ridiculous really quickly trying to keep track of what's going on in various ill-named threads
3. If the intended audience is 1 person, that's spam. If it has no topic, it's spam. If it's spam it's spam. Just because I'm not interested doesn't mean that it's spam, but you can usually tell the difference pretty quickly.
4. Doesn't matter if it's not spam to everybody, it clutters up the forum and makes it a pain for everybody else. Posting asinine threads with no purpose isn't a problem when it's just one or two, but when they start to multiply much beyond that it makes the forum less useful.
1. Learn to deal with it then, or give up on it entirely. It's on the reader to skim for what they want to read, not the poster to write what/as the reader wants.
2. Again, ill named threads aren't worth getting that worked up about. Either open them and see if you're going to want to read them and/or contribute to them or don't. Also, you can just read the first few posts and reply to those or the OP in egenral. You don't have to read the entire thread to post in one.
c. You can't tell the intended audience just from reading a thread for 100% certain. Also, just because a thread has a nosensical topic or content doesn't make it spam, it might just be different is all. Some may be spam, yes, but you can't say for certain that every thread you think is spam IS in fact spam.
d. I agree about the clutter but again this is the GENERAL FORUM, not a specific topic or subject forum. I agree maybe we need a misc general subforum but that's about it.
