Boy, I wonder how this thread is going to turn out.

Maybe I'll make a bingo board out of expected posts and phrases ...
Egypt and the Muslim Brotherhood just condemned Israel.

Funny, Egypt just announced a massive EU money deal.

StingingVelvet: Or for someone to actually win and drive the opposition out. Which won't happen because the only logical way for that to play out is Israel losing and the West won't allow that.
Damn the west, Israel won't allow that. Their words are backed with NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

i.e. they go, all go

It will happen sooner or later because the Arabic part of Israel's population is growing much faster than the Jewish one. A fact most analysts seem to miss. Can't wait to see the Zionist movement's reaction when this finally occurs to them.

Don't worry, they'll take care of that.

keeveek: Nuke the Jerusalem. Problem solved. :E
Similar to my idea: Build a huge wall around the area and install a no-flight zone. Whoever is still alive in 20 years owns the territory.

If they used them they would lose all support, probably. I doubt they ever do so unless they were literally being wiped out as a whole by a massive invading force.

Which, well, I guess is what I said, so point taken. I was more meaning that could never happen because millions of US and EU troops would be on the ground before it got that far.

keeveek: Don't bother. It's something he will never understand. It's beyond his comprehension.
No, I want you to keep having these discussions. It's important that you do (so long as you think for 5 minutes before you say anything. "Nuke Jerusalem" is just imbecilic and I think you need to reconsider what the word "comprehension" means, asshole). I just don't understand why everyone believes that this is the best place for them.

I wanted to discuss the Israel conflict more, so I signed on for an International Relations degree and found places on the internet with much more informed and appropriate audiences. Since a lot of people seem unwilling to find more appropriate places - and that is absolutely fine - I think we can do a better job of accommodating you here. And the best way to accommodate these discussions is just to install an Off Topic area. That way the people who come to GOG for what it's designed for don't have to scroll down and see inappropriate comments like "Nuke Jerusalem" - unless that's a new level in Duke Nukem Forever.

Anyway, I'll let you carry on grunting at everyone, keeveek. I really hope you take the time to learn the importance of thinking - because by god have you just demonstrated a level of stupidity I didn't even think could be reached by a human being.

Dude, you are in Georgia. Which is probably the best place to get a good view on the whole conflict without being actually in it. Go find an expat bar and hang with some Israelis and Arabs (yes, at the same time. Yes, many actually like each other). Playing Risk with an Israeli, a Persian, a Dutch girl and Scotsman (as a couple/team) and some dude from Wyoming while drinking moonshine out of some preserving jars in an illegal bar (which was just a cellar) was probably the best fun I had over there.

And you learn a lot about the people and the region. Sadly I lost. But at least my Hitler impression was the best. Honestly, there must be some rule about making Hitler impression when playing Risk with a German ... ;-).

Most people, myself included, only post on a few forums and leave everything else to lurk mode. If we want to discuss something, we do it on our "normal forum." Which is why every forum has a general discussion or off-topic area, which, hey look, is where this thread is located.

Seems to me like you would make more sense asking for a "other games" area to compliment the game forums. I would be opposed to that though, since traffic is not high enough to warrant a split.

Fun fact. Peace is progressing a lot down there. Currently is probably the most peaceful and constructive time down there since the whole conflict began. It is not unsolvable and the concessions which have to be made by either side aren't that unreasonable. The problem is only that so far neither side has been reasonable at the same time.

The current "teenager" generation will probably fix it in about twenty to thirty years. If not earlier.

What knowledge specifically do you think I lack?

I have of course hung out with a ton of expats here. My favorite was a Syrian man who told me how peaceful and modern his country was about 2 months before it dove into civil war.

You should come visit Lebanon. It's very peaceful and modern ^^ Just watch out for the armed AK-47 militia and eventual missile rain from time to time :P.

Well, Post 14. shows a certain lack of knowledge about the issue.

And don't trust Syrians. Never EVER trust them!

(Just kidding, Syrians are fine. Although most I met had some sort of a pervert streak ...
