I see absolutely no reason for steam to do so... It is just more PR for steam, which gog also could have, and regarding people buying elsewhere - it is true for sales, but according to the last post mortem on Wrack, as soon as they got on Steam all other sales dried out, and that is even with those sites offering Steam keys also. Do not forget that all those sites have been selling Steam keys for years now, and there is no indication that things will change. I do not think they will, as it is in Valves interest to not do so.
It could also be in gog's interest.

Robette: Well... is that even true? I thought valve certainly sees a cut even when the keys are sold through 3rd party retailers.
