Miaghstir: So, I got a very quick response (thank you EA), the content of which was that only games released in 2009 and later are supported by the downloader, which doesn't include Mass Effect. This just makes me more curious as to how some people here apparently have had success adding said game to EADM.

bansama: Perhaps one of those users could send you a screen shot of it added to their account, along with their EADM user name so you can point that out to EA support in a manner in which they can check on their system?
Ok, here is my picture.
I don't know if it matters but my version of Mass Effect came from Steam.

the registry trick should work or else contact the live support they should help you in minutes, just say the words [you prefer the new eadm to steam and hence want to register mass effect there]
I could activate the GamersGate version of Medal of Honor Airborne in this link: https://activate.ea.com/gameactivation.do
I've tried all my retail games from EA including Crysis, ME, MoH Pacific Assault, MoH Battle Chest, BF 1942, BF 2142 and Red Alert 3 but I only managed to activate RA 3, other than that EADM accepted none on them :(

You are currently number 16 in the queue. We apologize for the delay. We will assign you to an agent as soon as one is available. The average amount of time a customer has to wait is 9 minutes

Let's see what's gonna happen :p
so here's what happened,

Fred: I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Fred: I have checked all the available way to assist you but would like to inform that as these games old enough, it can not be redeemed in EADM to create a digital download of the games.
me: thanks a lot
me: but I heard Mass Effect can be activated on EADM
Fred: I am sorry, it can not be activated on EADM because it is an old game.

tough luck I guess :(

Yeah, that's what they said to me as well, though I hadn't given them the picture then.

Ehm, I have activated mass effect 1 (not 2!) some months ago, it has redeemed from CD-Version, so what is the problem? In my EADM I can see Mass Effect 1 & 2.

I've seen similar posts on the EA forums and some people got the EA staff that moderates the EADM subforum to add the games to their accounts.
I think EA have vastly underestimated just how appealing digital back-ups are. Clearly the capability is there but the bosses have said no. If some exec could be told just how popular this feature is they might relent and let more people add their older games to the service as it's more likely to get people to install the EADM and that's exactly what EA want.
