I don't know if Google would do anything about it or not, but that needs to be reported. That's deceptive unethical BS.

mondo84: Apparently. It's an in-game pop-up.

More info at Gamasutra.

Grargar: "It's not bad. It's just different!" Yeah, I believed you...
Thats like saying a cake made out of chocolate is different from one made out of a pile of cow poop.

Yeah it's different, but that doesn't make it not a pile of shit.
Personally i think this game should be called Money Keeper.

I don't know about Google but someone on the Gamasutra article posted this about Apple's appstore:

Developers who attempt to manipulate or cheat the user reviews or chart ranking in the App Store with fake or paid reviews, or any other inappropriate methods will be removed from the iOS Developer Program
EA keeps scoring:

Franchise after franchise huh, EA?

Interesting that it mentions the game asks you to rate it when you've been playing for around 20 minutes. Which I would assume is before it gets to the "wait 24h to mine" part.

Lovely.
I didn't know about Dungeon Keeper before happening across this story, but it looks like alot of fun. I'll have to pick it up at some point. The original I mean not the mobile version.

Ok, and I was already playing PvZ2 in order to try to prove to myself that it can be played satisfactorily without any micro-transactions, ie. it really is free as it claims, and not free-to-pay. It sounds those updates will make it even harder to do so, so the question really isn't whether the game is playable without micro-transactions, but how much you end up paying over the course of the game.

Away it goes from our tablet, I guess. I'll rather buy some GOG game than buy gems or coins in an Android game. But then this may be like with the DRM-free thingie, that me voting with my wallet doesn't matter when hordes of other gamers think it is fine, and I am deemed as a luddite for not liking DRM or micro-transactions. Oh well, I'll still keep trying.

I'm happy I am not as compulsive player that I'd had an urge to pay for the micro-transactions. I'll rather un-commit myself from those games (like PvZ2 and the new Dungeon Keeper).

Haha, actually I just set PvZ2 to download to check it out. I'll see how long I last without paying a dime, because I won't.

I have progressed quite nicely in it, but now I was stuck in one of those "find the identical cards" minigames. Earlier they were easier, but this particular level is a murder. I think I've replayed that level for a couple dozen times already.

It is evident that this sequel is harder than the original, just so that you are more inclined to pay real money for powerups, the power cheats etc. Shame really, otherwise it seems like a fine sequel, and I would have certainly paid for a full version without micro-transactions crap.

Let me know if you ever get to the end without micro-transactions. Maybe it can be done after all, and I just suck at it. :)

Do so. It's one of my favorite games of all time. And get both 1 and 2. Some people prefer one over the other (I'm partial to the first one myself), but they are both great games.

Licurg: I hate EA more every day...
+1

EA and Ubisoft are the top of the list of companies whom I refuse to buy games from with the only possible exceptions being DRM-free classics on GOG.com, or the occasional game freebie that comes my way for Origin or Uplay. The horrid experience of their DRM is the primary factor, but they've murdered a lot of games as well by either putting out garbage, or even worse - by putting out an AWESOME game and then not supporting it after a patch or two and later killing the multiplayer servers within 1-2 years regardless of how hugely popular the game is. Those two companies could learn a LOT from Valve or Blizzard in that regard, whom support their games for over a decade plus, with active patches, keeping it running on modern OSs, embracing an active vibrant mod community and enabling the community to make other content such as maps, skins etc. EA/Ubisoft just want your money so they can throw a game over the fence at you and abandon it shortly after. No thanks. These used to be 2 of my favourite game publishers of which comprise the majority of my CD/DVD game collection. No more.

They might be big still, but with GOG and a number of other sites out there, there are a huge amount of immensely fun and popular games that make it easy to pass up on EA and Ubi stuff IMHO. They are so out of touch with their customers it isn't funny. We're all just numbers in a spreadsheet to them really.

Oh, he will. I made sure of that.

Or as sure as we can get, that is.
