Guess we should start calling it Dawn Of Horde now. Looks like it could be a good bit of fun though, wonder if they'll add any achievements for it
Relic are continuing to expand DOW2 which they always promised to do. It's only a minor lot that scream WANT EVERYTHING NAOW!!
I'm hoping they do new campaigns at some point but that'll definitely be an expansion thing. New races would be nice too, especially chaos with actual differentiation between the gods
Dunno, Jonny Ebbert said the races would be coming. The expansions would be proper expansions.
It'll be like Operation: Stonewall from CoH: Tales of Valor.....can't wait to try it out.
Why has every major game to have a "Horde Mode" neglect to mention that the real innovator of this arena style combat was Resident Evil 4's Mercenaries Mode?

Relic is really good at supporting games long after release, and it's good that they're still doing that. This is going to be sweet.

'cause any horde mode in Dawn of War is awesome.
... Awesome.
While I can't understand the logic of making it GFWL and Steam (Steam could have handled the achievements, DLC and anything else that GFWL provides), I can't knock the support they've provided the game thus far.
No signs of a commercial expansion yet, but I did notice some IG in those screenshots...

Probably because such a statement would be untrue, to put it mildly. It's not even the first major commercial title to provide a coop horde mode as standard.
The Imperial Guard were in the main campaign so since they already have some of the models done they'd make the next logical addition.

What else could it be? Its Dawn Of War 2...

That's what I thought about DoW1 ...and I was right! That didn't stop them completely redoing all the models. Nothing from the DoW1 IG were recycled into the IG faction. So really, the appearance of IG didn't make creating the faction any easier or more likely.

I hope you're right. I love playing IG in DOW1.

Well basic design work, plans for the types of units and all the background type of stuff they didn't end up using. Probably made a lot of things that they wanted to add but never did until Winter Assault
the IG would be interesting to see in the game, not as much cover for a lot of troops. I probably won't get an expansion that only had multiplayer races though, not unless it was free of course

Maybe they could have it some kind of IG kill team. Nothing but veterans and stormies would enable them to keep the nembers similar to how they where with the marines. Oh and sentinels, they would need sentinels.

Whatever faction they add next, I just hope they don't throw balancing out of the window like they did with Winter Assault. When it was released it was only playable in single player mode. IG are difficult to balance. I'd imagine that the inclusion of Tyranids are only going to increase those difficulties.
As Blood Bowl proves*, converting the tabletop turn based rules into real time gaming is a difficult process and it's one area Relic haven't excelled at when it comes to retaining the balance.
As for a single player campaign, I hope they include one. One that's a little bit more focussed than the DOW expansions became. After all, not every race need be included in the campaign. Or they could produce mini campaigns that deal with certain races separately.
*According to reviews.

I'd imagine they'd be more numerous, like Tyranids. The most basic lore correct Space Marine is infinitely more powerful than even a IG Karskin.
It's worth pointing out that the tabletop game isn't lore correct either. It was balanced to stop Space Marine players being left with about four units to use, compared to their opponent's massive army of Orks/Tyranids/Whatever.
So there's no reason why IG would have to be so few in number. Unless the engine just can't handle it or something.
