Hello GoG :) I'll be fast :)
My question is do you think to add some new old school chess game or some chess game at all? I really looking for getting some from this legendary game. The problem is I can't find nothing that's worth. The classic one''s are too expensive or unfindable and the odd one's are too strange for me(not my type of game) :) So my hope is in you guys to bring one fine chess adventure.
I think alot of people will buy it too :). So pleace think about it :)
Alright that's for now. I gtg :) I w8 for an answer.
Have a great week :)
I'm not sure what you're talking about :) but.. they have two chess games here:
http://www.gog.com/gamecard/battle_chess_special_edition
http://www.gog.com/gamecard/combat_chess

but I'm pretty sure this isn't what you're looking for, right? :)

also, welcome aboard!

Please don't take this the wrong way, but is it possible you've mistranslated something as 'chess'? Chess is a specific board game, and though there are several computer versions they're all the same mechanics, and you seem to be talking about different games.
My favourite chess software was always the Fritz Series. Though I didn't get the last few releases. (I'm not strong enough to profit from the additional features). And if you check Amazon the older releases might be quite cheap. Fritz 7 is OK, Fritz 8 is better (stronger and faster player) and Fritz 9 has some useful additional features. Beyond that I found the changes from version to version not really necessary.

Or if you are a world class player, you might want to try Rybka instead. But for me it's unimportant whether a chess engine has an ELO of 3100 or 3200. Both are unbeatable at the highest setting. An older version is also available free I think.

Or you install Linux and get the Crafty engine for free (it's open source and Rybka is at least partially based on Crafty as far as I know). Add any graphical frontend you like and you are set.
well i looked in battle chess and it just looks so slowwwww to me. Everything is made really nicely but it takes forever for a move. I don't know nothing about combat chess - I coudn't find any videos in internet about it. I am talking about some really old school chess with rating system, different types of difficulty and fast moves. :) Thats all

Battle Chess is fun for a while, but is quite weak. Once you learn it's weaknesses, you can regularly beat it quite easily. Combat Chess tried to copy the success of Battle Chess, has the same problem and added some interface problems. So Battle Chess is the better of these two, but neither can be considered a serious chess program.
This is my favourite chess game, so everyone, vote for it! :p

Voted! (Shame on me that I didn't vote for it on my own)
Best (serious) chess game on gog was Chessmaster 9000, which was unfortunately removed. Personally I don't like the fun games like Battle, Terminator or Star Wars chess - they're frist nice to look but after a while you had seen every move and just don't to wait so long for every move animation.

So, if you looking for a good chess program take a look on Arena. It's more a GUI for all the different chess engines, as example Arasan. Arena and some of these chess engines are free, so you can build your own little chess program ;-) http://www.playwitharena.com/

Edit: Ah, I see Lifthrasil already mentioned some engines.

The best chess memories i have are definitely from playing battle chess as kid. However, later my interest in chess was pretty much killed by Deep Blue and encountering Go.

..oh and do we have any proper Mahjongs?- like real Mahjongs with four players, not the puzzle thing people think is "Mahjong".
Finding decent chess engines for analysis and play these days using the Fritz GUI is no problem. Those have been the mainstay of pros and interested amateurs for over ten years (Shredder, Hiarcs, Junior, Fritz, Rybka, and what have you). However, there are some unique chess programs of note out there that stand out either for features, presentation, or other quirks.

One Good Ol' Game of the chess persuasion that would find a good home here is Sierra's Power Chess, which had some interesting features and was ahead of its time. It had a voice-acted post-mortem function for one's games (by the "Queen" who gave advice and pointed out mistakes in your play), and its primary opponent, the "King," adjusted itself heuristically to the player's level of play over the course of time so that it always gave a good game but one the player could always beat if they brought their A-game. This was always one of the most important features in a chess program, IMO, to not demoralize the player.

Power Chess was part of that problematic late 90s period of Win 95/98-developed games that have problems running on modern OS configurations. I'd be thrilled to have a debugged working GOG version.

There was an older, forgotten early 90s program called GrandMaster Chess which I thought was a decent little program for as old it was. I used it a lot as a kid growing up. I remember its skill levels were convincingly "human-like" for the blunders and positional oversights they emulated.

Both of these are better than GOG's Battle chess / Combat Chess here, which is campy fun for half an hour but of little lasting value.
My favorite had to be Archon, back in the C64 days. I haven't seen it on the PC.

Archon Classic. Highly recommended. Great blend of original gameplay, some optional additions, and better graphics.
