amok: prevents me from buying a game here, as I would already bought it somewhere else.... happened at least 3 times so far

I do not see how it looses the competitive edge of for example Steam and GG that the customer know a game they are waiting for is being released there soon, as they are doing... and is where I bought those games just to have it magically appear here.

Best example Pid - it was on the coming soon on GG for a week, there was no word here at all. It was released there as expected, I bought it. A few hours later it suddenly popped up on the front page here.... and I would have bought it here since the dollar to pound conversion was beneficial. there is no loss of competitive edge here at all by making the user guess a game may or may not appear, as opposed to other sites where the user know for sure it will be. I just call it extreme silliness.
This issue has been discussed several times in these forums. It appears that the reason GOG avoids this, particularly for older games, is that last-minute issues have been known to crop up during testing, thereby delaying the game's release. (Sometimes for weeks or months.) The whining about a promised game not being released is much greater, and more damaging to a company's rep, than the discontent over "stealth" releases. :)

Then GOG can have GOG users test games if they don't want to hire more testers.

I mean Bethesda already does this anyway, along with other developers that would rather not fix their games. Let highly reputable community members help out with the testing if GOG is looking to save more money not hiring more help.

Older games - yes, it takes time making sure they manage to make the games run. Newer games - does not makes sense, as this is not an issue, and particular in light of the competition. it is not like gOg does not know they are going to release the new game on day X... as do al other DD sites.

tinyE: If it's Omikron I just want the soundtrack. :D
Now, I assume you're aware the trouble GOG would have to go through to secure David Bowie's music?

I play Bowie on my guitar all the time. I've nver been sued. 'Course I'm not that good so maybe its because no one can tell its Bowie. :)
Does anyone know if The Raven from King Art Games, is coming to GOG.
Thanks

Nilok7: Under the tab "New and coming games" I only ever see new games. I never see games that are soon to be released on Gog. Am I missing something? I would love to actually be able to see the games Gog is going to be offering in the future.

amok: no, gog do not make use of this feature - which is very, very silly of them.
Like kodeen said, they DO make use of it from time to time. It may be rare, but I have seen it with my own two eyes.

Only when there is something you can pre-order.

They do not put "coming soon" anywhere, like Gamers Gate or Steam.

Interestingly, in the beginning when they only sold classics they did do this. I remember that they had upcoming games in that tab. I think it was not long after the beta closed they stopped doing it.

Now, I can understand the reason for not doing so. as it may raise expectations for some games which in the end may turn out to be very difficult, if not impossible, to make running on modern machines, but I think it is silly to not do so for new games which they have in the pipeline.
That is still making use of the feature. Even if it rarely and/or only under certain circumstances.

They only ever use it for indies you can pre-order though, don't they? I think the "Coming" is not meant for announcing games that you can't buy yet, rather for the pre-order pages?

EDIT: Whoops, ninja'd already. Sorry for the intrusion. :D (Why was the thread resurrected anyway? It seems the OP is 3 months old ...)

Indies and classics are NOT the ony two categories of games on GOG. Please stop perpetuating that myth!

That's why I do not remember my quote. I thought this was that unofficially confirmed thread...

You might have a better chance asking that question in this thread:
